Im sure Brian will do what Brian wants to do yes I posted this because I read a little between the lines. I like the idea and hope it happens but come on I waited 4 years for MIH and neither Brian or Roger are getting any younger!

"Good question... :) I have to admit, I like to be negative about Queen on this board because I like to add some criticism to all the praising, just to be constructive."

Hahaha, good reason!

"and even there he doesn't say anything honest besides "this Britney collaboration was brilliant, fantastic, breathtaking... I learned so much etc. pp.""

Maybe Brian thought it was brilliant, fantastic and had a great time working with her.
If you played a song with Brian, and it sucks, i bet you think it's brilliant, fantastic aswell

I'm always a little surprised that MIH is such a favourite with everyone. I don't dislike it, and I like hearing the Queen style versions of Heaven 4 everyone, IWBTLY and TMLWKY, but still always feel like its not a complete Queen album because these songs were originally solo songs. I was never sure if they re-recorded the vocals for H4E and IWBTLY and when the vocal for TMLWKY were done. it now seems that Brian effectively put it all together from outakes, which is not really surprising. Fred was amazing to have managed to record the new tracks.

So, with regard to a new album, it would be interesting if it was Queen material from outtakes, but I feel it should form part of the box set releases rather than an official "new album".

As for Brian's comments: He does seem to promise lots and not deliver, but the problem is he likes to have a lot of input into these projects, and obviously enjoys it. Of course we want the box sets and of course we want them to play live more (either solo or as a variation of Queen), but Brian can only do so much, and he will do what he wants. I can't blame him for that at all. He's got a life too, and he does do a lot for the fans, even if we don't all appreciate it all.

"Maybe Brian thought it was brilliant, fantastic and had a great time working with her."

Yes, maybe. Still it's unlikely and not the whole story, at least the fun working with her was damn sure not the reason to start working with her in the first place. Of course it sounds better to tell us "yes, there was money involved, but it was sooo great and I don't regret it from a musical point of view" than "yes, there was money involved and that was the only positive thing for me." Also, it's reasonable that he tries to convince his listeners that what he does is great, but it doesn't mean he's honest.

"If you played a song with Brian, and it sucks, i bet you think it's brilliant, fantastic aswell"

First, I don't think so, second, if a musician like Brian May thinks like that and is blinded by the personality and musical ability of Britney and therefore adapts his tastes and loses his power of judgement (you seem to agree that the product of this collaboration, from a neutral point of view, "sucks"), I'm really sorry for him. And I refuse to believe it. Maybe I will get used to it after his next lapse of taste.

Kuku: "Hahaha, good reason!"

As you can see, it works!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. What we read on Brian's site are his true feelings. I jokingly said that WE should all know that considering the ruckus that his outbursts can cause on here. Smoking, musical, 46664, polls, and many other subjects.
But seriously Hank, if you honestly believe that he's somehow deceiving people of his true thoughts, why listen at all anymore?

"Of course it sounds better to tell us 'yes, there was money involved, but it was sooo great and I don't regret it from a musical point of view'"

No it doesn't. You show me how many people promote things with that kind of a response. And how often has Queen ever given that response over their entire career?

Also, what you've said about the recent collaboration is a very personal view. We all judged for ourselves and I suppose it wasn't well received by fans here. But we all know he has a love affair with that track and also with collaborations.

And as far as I'm concerned, this board has becoming increasingly negative and has never been full of praise anyway.

Peace,
Adam.

Actually, BMW, it's a given that it'll happen.

I'm not a great fan of the idea. Part of being a good band is to know when to stop, and in most cases when the lead singer dies it's a given. Putting out MIH was a great thing to do, providing everyone with the sense of closure everyone needed, and allowing the rest of the band to go off and do what they wanted. That should have been that.
But releasing a MIH 2...to me that's like picking a scab.

I agree Dragonzflame. But as long as things are done like the Beatles anthology, ala 2 newish tracks, things will be good. A whole album is a bit much.

a Whole new album is never too much! New sogns done from freddie's demos and new stuff from Brian and Roger would be fab!

Hi All, I am also desparately hoping to see a new Queen album of both Freddie demos and completely new material. I think New York at Last is amazing.

People on this site always bitch and moan that the fans get treated like crap. Well what a crock of s&%t! How many other major artists are there out there who communicate with their fans on a daily basis, reply to fan e-mails, listen to fan demos and then even consider releasing them?! Just because Brian doesnt always agree with the fans that means he doesn't care about them?

There are a number of people on this board who have implied that Brian only works for the money these days, Britney, Pink, Five etc, when both Brian and Roger invested huge amounts of time and effort into 46664 for no money whatsoever.

Queen have never been a band to refuse money. Queen played Sun City and I'm sure Freddie made the comment that there was a lot of money to be made playing there. I'm sure the comment was typical Freddie tongue in cheek stuff but some of the truest things are said in jest!

So what am I trying to say in this long rambling essay... basically lets see a little optimism on this board instead of the continual critism. I'm not saying everything the band does it great but on balance I think we are a pretty lucky group of fans.

What you don't realise is that Brian and Roger don't need to work on the anthology. They did not work on the Freddie box and it was still released and it's very good. Brian can spend the years to come in the Dominion Theatre with his lap top and change "one tiny little bit" of the musical each night for all I care - all he has to do is give the okay for the anthology and let the experts do the job.

What happened to the DVD Audios? Two were released and now we don't hear anything anymore. Maybe it's because it was no commercial success but maybe it's because Brian wants to do everything himself and that is just not possible. When you heard the interview on Virgin, it's all : "let's look into 2 minutes of demo material once a week and then let's think about it for three weeks" - at this working pace we can just as well forget about the anthology.
I do not want any google ads here.
