FAO PG and anyone else who have had trouble with Spyware!

PG, I too am going to give up my QZ address because spyware is being installed in my PC when I access it. How did you rid your PC of this spyware? Anyone else have any ideas or good programs to destroy spyware?

Spybot works for me. It's free and easy to use, plus I've only heard good things about it.

Just put in "spybot" into a search engine and you'll find the website.

I had the same problem a while back. What I did was to get a combination of ZoneAlarm Pro (which now has a pop up blocker included) and Pest Patrol. Well worth the money.

I can also vouch for Spybot, and I also recommend Ad-Aware.

You can never get rid of everything you'd like to though, as the bastards that devise the various wanky programmes and files that get in to your PC to do harm are very clever wanky bastards.

I also use "spybot search and destroy" and to block new spyware I have SpywareBlaster which is very good, too. They are both free and easily updated.

Lately I have used HijackThis.exe which is a small and useful (free) programme to scan your system and log all running processes. It allows you to detect and delete unwanted spyware running on your PC. But be careful not delete something important. If you are not sure always show the log to a specialist or post it on one of the many tech forums (you find the forums by typing "spyware" into google).

Thanks, everyone. I already have Spybot and Ad-Aware but as Bohardy said, I know something is still in both of my computers as they are both running too slow. I will try the free programs you all have mentioned and, if that doesn't work, I will give the paid-programming a try.

What's going on with all the spam on QZ?! I'm getting e-mails from people named Fairyfeller and Dark_Myuutwo with 58kb files that claim to be virus free, which I don't believe for one second. This shit spam is clogging up my e-mail!! Aaugh!!

Ive beeng getting the odd dodgy email too dark.

Ive also been recieving attachments which it says failed to be sent properly and as a result are imcomplete, again about 58KB and all are from ppl ive never heard of..strange

One thing I tried, Brandon, was to see what was running on my computer by hitting ctr-alt-del. When it listed the programs, I did a search for them on yahoo to see what they were. Most of them are legit, but I did find a few that weren't, so that enabled me to delete those files.

I use Spybot every now and then. But not everything was cleaned. Ad-Aware 6.0 works better for me.

I got rid by reformatting and reinstalling.

Still don't know if my hard drive getting royally fucked up is related to this or not, but my 80Gb drive now has a capacity of 48Gb.

Thanks, but I've discovered that it's a warranty issue, & the manufacturer will be supplying a replacement.

And if they don't I'll claim they're breaching my human rights or something by failing to keep my porn secure....
