Is anyone else in the USA going to be invaded by 5 billion cicadas in the next few days? I know I am and am not looking forward to it.
For those that do not know what cicadas are...they are locusts that come to certain areas of the USA every 17 years. In my surrounding area we are expecting over 5 billion. I was 12 last time they came and bugs were kind of cool then, but now I am not so sure.
Wish me luck.

Yipes! Good luck Lisser! I hope they don't come here. You aren't in North Carolina are you (I hope hot. LOL!)?
I'm in Jersey and I was actually going to make a post on this... I'm EXTREMELY frightened because my worst nightmare is, well, being invaded by large bugs. Or bugs in general. Plus, I'm working in a day camp this summer and I guess I'll have to request an indoor activity because I am NOT getting swarmed by shrimp-sized cicadas!!
No Dan, I am ten minutes south of Cincinnati Ohio.
I'm not frightened by the bugs but they are going to be annoying. They will most definately limit the amount of time we can spend outdoors without being "bugged!" Oh I am so funny.
Good thing is is that they will only be here for about six weeks and with each week that goes by, their numbers diminish.

I'm near Cleveland. I remember the last time all too well. Ugh, I hate them.
I going to hijack my own topic here and ask Janet if she is planning on going to the convention in Cleveland, of course. I really want to go and if I do go I'd like to look for some of you.

They have come around here, too. I don't remember them being too annoying other than the loud noises that all of them made.
That's the exact reason to despise them. ;)
Lisser, Sadly I won't be able to attend this year. If you go, I hope you have a wonderful time. :-)
If I go to the more grassier and desert part of Utah, there are infestations of mormon crickets every year. Disgusting cause they're everywhere!
Ew crickets ewewewew.
Oh GOD I hate bugs. Except ladybugs-- a few weeks ago, a ladybug named Sal resided in my bathroom for only a weekend until I made my dad let him out in the front yard because he was looking quite sickly. I even took a picture of him with my phone... so cute. :D

Whoa! Lisser, what town are you in!? I'm in Fort Thomas, and we're getting them too! 5 billion of them! My little brother is out looking for them as we speak.
When are they supposed to get here, anyway?
