What do you think about the way these songs are put together?

First you have an ordinary song that starts to get a little boring after 2 minutes and suddenly the situation is saved by this ultra-energetic "Who said that my party is all over?". Great stuff!
Not those are losers who fall, but those who don't stand up.

I suppose the only thing they have going for them is that it sounds like one shite song instead of two.

fatty.

The worst two songs Queen have ever written or recorded in my opinion.
There must be more to life than this.

When I forst got the album, I thought it was one song. Because in Khashoggi's Ship, it mentions party and it's right after Party. But then I decided to look at the track number and it wasn't the same song. It confuses me sometimes on where one song is supposed to end and the other begins.

I (rather worryingly obviously!) don't think they're that bad...I've heard worse...in fact i'd go almost as far as saying I quite like both of them *ducks to avaid various missiles thrown in my general direction!* they are a couple of fun songs....not as bad as I think you think they are....= )

"Party would have made a good intro to Khashoggi's Ship on the Miracle Tour."

ALMOST like on the album, Huh? ;)

I don't see why people dislike these two songs. These are my 2 favourites :D I love the way they are put together; they have a real rock sound which I like :) I can't listen to Party without it leading in to KS though.

"we had a food fight in somebody's face" -I love that bit and "everybody was huuuuuungover"
"Take me to the room where the reds all red take me outta my head, that's what I said"

I have always liked them, too. A great rock combo to start the album. Much better than the song The Miracle, which is a big ball of cheese!

They're both quite bad in my opinion, and make for a rather shocking and somewhat revolting start to an album.

Surprisingly easy to recreate the transition when making a copy of the album from one large extracted file however. I never get any popping sound like I do with many Queen crossfades unless they're separated in exactly the right place. So I'll give them that much.

Party is not great, but I can think of many worse Queen songs (with resorting to Flash Gordon songs or B sides). KS, I believe, is cursed with guilt by association with Party. Personally, I rank KS an slightly above average Queen song, but I rate Party as a slightly below average Queen song. I would easily rate these songs as worse (excluding Flash Gordon and B-sides):

STAYING POWER
THE HITMAN
JEALOUSY
FIGHT FROM THE INSIDE
SLEEPING ON THE SIDEWALK
MY FAIRY KING
FATHER TO SON
NOW I'M HERE
SHE MAKES ME(Stormtrooper In Stilettoes)
MACHINES (or Back To Humans)
MAN ON THE PROWL
ONE YEAR OF LOVE
SWEET LADY
BACK CHAT
LIFE IS REAL (Song For Lennon)
ALL GOD'S PEOPLE
BIJOU
MY LIFE HAS BEEN SAVED
SCANDAL

Party isn't exactly my favorite tune, and usually bands (or record companies) pick stronger songs to open the album. Kashoggi's Ship is good but ugh! "Who needs a drum machine when you've got Roger...he never misses a beat"?

A live drum version of Party might have sounded a little bit like "Spoonman" -- I mean all the pounding drum lines-- but ouch! Everybody Wang Chung tonight!

I love 'Party' and 'Khashoggi's Ship'... I honestly don't see why everyone has a problem with them and I think it sets a positive tone for the album, considering the condition Freddie was in. It was optimistic and fun and one of his last stabs at a real upbeat feel before Innuendo came along. As a whole, I love The Miracle-- I think it's a great album and while I might skip over 'My Baby Does Me', I will surely listen to everything else-- ESPECIALLY 'I Want It All'!!
