Does anyone have any information concerning the new Freddie Mercury series of plates being issued by Danbury Mint (UK, not US)? The first one is already out and I've seen threads on other Queen lists speculating more coming in the future. They are a tad expensive but the artwork is fantastic!

You knew it was bound to happen sooner or later! I have the two Grafton plates, but the Danbury one is nice too.
If someone would do one of Fred in the Zandra Rhodes frock or the harlequin leotard -- now that would be a PLATE! (LOL)

Two?? YIKE!! (I've got the Royal Grafton plates and the 1946-1991 one but the Danbury ones are MUCH more beautiful...and the price shows it!)
Are the Danbury plates porcelain or bone china?

Yay! Thanks, Barry. I think using china is absurd because it can break easily. I have a set of Bradford Exchange Beatles plates (14 in all) that were issued in the early 90s and look very handsome on the wall. The Freddie plates will look much at home beside them!

I think once you've bought one, you're on the mailing list to receive details when the next one is out. I think they're planning on releasing 12.

sully5059 I saw a advert about this particular series on the back of this week's TV Times.
The picture is from 1984 the year 'The Works' was released. It's also on the back of GVH2.

Sully, I have the last two, plus the "Tribute Plate" (white with black and white painting and dates of birth and death). I had no idea there were more and that there will be a series too! DOUBLE YIKE!! Thanks for all the info, very much appreciated! :-))
