GVH3 should be in 4x3 :(

I was just watching my downloaded videos of Innuence, Headlong, Slightly Mad, and TSMGO, and I think will really be a shame releasing these videos in DVD quality in widescreen, moreso than the video DVDs we have out now.
Is there any hope for some of the videos to be in 4:3 ratio? If I remember correctly some vids in GVH2 were in their correct ratio, I think the invisible man was.
One song I'm especially worried about is Innuendo. It would lose a lot of it's arty-nature, mainly shots where the "audience" is just visible on the bottom of the screen; the middle bit with the camera rotating around the clay faces would look strange as well.
In the first video hits DVD, this "aspect-ratio-modification" didn't bother me, since the videos were really nothing special, except for Bohemian Rhapsody. But these newer videos that made excellent use of the camera they were shot with, it's just a shame they will be "butchered".

I know this hatred of the aspect ratio has been discussed before, but I dont't think anyone got into the specifics that these new videos ESPECIALLY would simply lose like half their essence with the top and bottoms cut out.

Ok, I'm wondering why no-one has taken me up on the offer I made to make dvds with 4x3 versions and the real surround portions intact. If people really want those instead of the released WS versions, I'll happily oblige. Just send me an excellent copy of the vids and it'll be done. And a copy of the end result is all I ask.

Rather than hear people bitch about it, I'll "fix" it for you all.

Peace,
Adam.

Adam, that would be nice! :-))
I do hope more attention will be paid to the clarity of the videos on GVHIII. And more in the way of extras. What about a "taste of things to come in that boxset" and having Brian tossing in a few of the "unheard tracks" that we've been gnashing at the bit for the past three years? THAT would be a huge selling point and a good part of the set. Wonder if there would be enough videos left (from Miracle/Innuendo/Made In Heaven) to fill two DVDs though?

In fact, you don't have to worry encoding the videos. They are already in great (PAL) quality in the GREATEST FLIX I & II promo DVD.

why not in 4:3 and 16:9 my tv in 16:9 so that's better for me.

But i can untherstand why some people would rather have 4:3 don't get me wrong.

Also i would like to see it in DTS, Dolby digital 5.1 as in stereo 2.0.

It's not a matter of what size TV you have. It's the idea of altering the original intended ratio. They'll rot in hell for chopping the videos up :-P

I love widescreen stuff. When there's a choice I choose widescreen DVDs to have the filmmaker's intended ratio. Although in some cases the 4:3 version actually shows more image since the 16:9 (1.78:1) or 1.85:1 ratios don't actually exist as film negatives. They're created by matting off part of the image, much like Queen is doing.

What's really sad is A Kind Of Magic.. it was already widescreen, looks about 1.66:1 which is a negative ratio I believe.. so they only needed to matte it slightly, yet they screwed up and squoze the whole thing down instead.

As luck would have it, I've found a copy of the rare Flix dvd release and am downloading it. So, it looks like I'll be making this one for sure now! I just hope these videos look alright. It looks like a rip. But hey, it's expensive and hard to find.

Heaven for everyone! Or should that be fullscreen for everyone?! I'll grant this wish.

Peace,
Adam.

It's a torrent file. Not from fileshares progs. It's gonna take ages. I found it on the hub too. So I'll try both places, they're both slow, though.

Peace,
Adam.

Medicated Droolist, if you like widescreen stuff then you would love the Jewels DVD. It even looks great on a regular set.
