What is the purpose of double bass drums and how would one play them if they need their left foot for the cymbal thing on the left?
I'm SO sorry-- I know nothing about drums or even what the names of each individual drum is but I was watching Wayne's World and wondering.
I hope someone understands my question LOL

Its probably more to do with volume and its easier to play in a faster style like that of for instance Metallica's Lars Ulrich. Quite a lot of drummers just have a double pedal set up on one bass drum these days.
Oh and btw... the "cymbal thing on the left" is called a hi-hat!! Lol
From yer old pal, a guitarist who stood in front a drummer that used such a kit and nearly became deaf,

Thanks! I don't know much about music, just what I like and what sounds great.
Hi-hat... I'll have to remember that. And I only thought those were the lights in our ceilings!!
