is this a good book to buy i saw it on ebay and was wondering how good it is

Crap, crap, crap... full of lies, written by someone with one hell of an imagination. There is some truth here and there, but just about any Queen-related book is better than this one. Unanimous agreement from any other folks here?

I like how he showed that Freddie WAS indeed human, and had problems just like the rest of us do... Which is something that some Queen fans don't seem to understand. All in all, Quite insightful and interesting. As a matter of fact, I may have to read it again... :P

Having read both books I can tell you one thing Phoebe's is written from the heart which is more than I can say for Mr. Sky's book.

It's terribly written, often bumptious, and to cap it all, the last word is given to that great luminary of popular culture - Danni Minogue.

I liked Jim Hutton's book also -- very, very sad ending (it always makes me bawl). Love the pictures too!

I really hate the Hutton book. Freddie always tried to keep his private life private, Hutton wrote a book about it and probably made up a thing or two as well, who can tell?? I won't go on and on, I just do not like the book Hutton wrote about Freddie, simply because I think he should have respected Freddie's habit of keeping his personal life private.

I still think many details of Freddie's life were purposely left out to preserve the memory and image of Freddie Mercury, the legend. The person who came closest to destroying Freddie's carefully-built image was Paul Prenter. Selling out to a tabloid was not a very smart thing to do if one was part of Freddie's inner circle. I know Phoebe tried to protect Freddie at all costs (you can see that in his book). Jim's was a little more sensationalised and in parts a little too personal. I think Freddie was a phenomenal, gifted person who brought a lot of sunshine into otherwise dull and dreary lives. There will never be another Freddie, he was unique and a wonderful person as well as a superb performer.

Rick Sky met Freddie probably once, he briefly interviewed him and his book is full of tabloid-like stories and lies.

Both Phoebe and Jim wrote very interesting books. The only difference is that that Jim probably did it for money and his book is too close to tabloids :-(
