Another case for Roger? Listen to the dvd "We Will Rock You". His backing vocals will not be denied. He had power to spare, as well as ability. It seemed that way in all of the concert footage I have seen. Either Brian's mike was turned down (in case John used it?), his voice did not come across in concert, or he was simply overpowered by Roger's lusty vocal. On "We Will Rock You", "Somebody To Love" is a perfect example.

Yes in fact in the coda of STL Roger stops singing for a moment and just Brian sings the "find me somebody toooooo love" part. I don`t know about the DVD but in the VHS version you can hear him, although very very very quietly.
If any of you dig out your DVD-As of ANATO and The Game, then you can REALLY hear who's voice is stronger and on what speaker!
Anyone know which album is next? It's been a long while since The Game was released. I'm in love with my DVD-As, got a feel for my DVD player and subwoofer, get a grip on the multichannel remote, love the thrill of the sound and feel of the wall of voices around and behind me...

Just to say that Brian is better would be - I admit - extremely subjective, cos Brian is my fav Queen member, but since subjectivity makes us what we are, I'll say it: yes I like Brian's voice a lot more than Roger's. But Roger's voice is fine also, although a bit rough (perhaps too much vodkas?!:)...). I really loved Say It's Not True even if Rog's voice is not very fit for ballads, but this one was fine. His voice is very strong you've said it before but I'll say it again. But Brian's is more mellow and sometimes so melancholic I could dream open eyes for hours listening to it... And I suppose if one of these two guys had had the best voice in the band, I guess Freddie would have had to do the backing vocals :). But since he was the lead singer it looks to me pretty much clear whose voice was the best...Right?

Still, Sebastian made a high-class analysis of their voices that doesn't leave much to be argued about.
He made a high-class TECHNICAL analysis, but personally, I don't give a rat's ass how in or out of tune someone's singing is as long as it still sounds good. And, IMHO, Brian's voice is gorgeous.
Of some reason Roger's voice sounds like suffocated nowadays.. its very hard for him to sing even songs like "Foreign sand or happiness?".. too much smoking.. has made his throat dire..
Geeksandgeeks, I do think that Brian's voice is gorgeous as well. My post wasn't supposed to be a direct comment on yours. No offence intended. What I meant - but probably expressed quite badly - is that the question has been sufficiently answered on a technical basis, leaving only individual preferences.
Yeah, I figured. None taken, which I hope goes both ways. I was just pointing out that technicality isn't everything, something which many of us would do well to remember from time to time.
Of course technicality isn`t everything. My fave band is The Beatles and I think any three-year consumated guitar played can play better than Ringo, Paul, George and John combined.
I prefer Yellow Submarine over My Fairy King BUT I can`t say that the first one is a better song. That`s my point. As for "favourite" singer, that can`t be (and will never be able to be) a matter of technical aspects.
But as for "best", in some cases - like this one - it`s easily "figurable". It`s different if you ask who is better guitar player between Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. We can all say who we like more, but it can`t be proved who is "better". But between either one of them and Rory Gallager, or Tom Delonge... it can be totally proved.

To me it depends on what type of song it is. Roger is better at the rock oriented ones and on some ballads depending on what hsi vocal range is for that particular song. Brian is better at the poppy songs and ballads. So I guess it is both.
