The value of collectible items

Let's say that I have a rare Queen LP. I have read in Record Collector that it is worth 150€ and Ron's site (www.queenpicturehall.com) gives it the value of 200$. So what?

What shall I do to get that amount of money for it? If I sell it on Ebay, I won't get even half of its value. If I go to a record shop, I also won't get "enough" money for it. Is there some way to get 150€ for the LP (this is just an example, so don't ask which LP it is) or is it just a sum that someone invented?

Little chance. Depends on what exactly is it. For example I have a Queen live CD from the King Biscuit series (with the cue sheets) that is apparently worth 100 pounds but I don't think I'd sell it for more than 20 pounds.

For example I have this Another World promo box that I bought for 60€. Queen Picture Hall gives it the value of 150$. I though doubt that I could make any profit by selling that item.

The value of the AW promo box is something between those two values. 60 euros is a good price. I guess the real value is around 90 euros.

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it..

Exactly what Erin said.

Those values may be nice for insurance agents, but you'll get the value that someone is willing to pay for it. If you hold out for the top price, you'll probably be holding onto it for awhile.

Whisperer, if you're selling the AW promobox I'd be interested... ;-)

Sorry, Pim. I'm not selling it, at least not now.

If I would, would you pay 150€ for it?

One must consult one's insurance agent before entering such discussions.

On a totally unrelated note, this past Breakthru convention was the first one that did not have an epidemic of stomach flu.
