I'm seriously thinking of buying one so I can finally say good bye to carrying CDs around.
However I don't know if getting another kind of MP3 player would be better, since iPods are usually more expensive than the rest, and they could possibly offer you the same or more for a cheaper price.

I've been looking into this, and the iPod, while very good, is more form than function, and sells the most via being the most heavily promoted.
Better options according to the reviews I've seen are:
1. iriver IHP-140 40Gb
2. Philips HDD100 20Gb I think
Both are also cheaper and more accessible than the 40Gb iPod, which isn't unicorn coloured for nothing...

I saw today some new devices that have a 20 or 30GB HD, which can also store photo's. It does have a rather nice full color display to watch these foto's and can play mp3 as well as AM/FM radio. I don't know the name/brand of the thing I'm afraid. Off course it's Japanese.
