This -- a bootleg I've been lusting after for ten-odd years:
The Ultimate Collection (Rarities, Oddities and Cover Versions), 2 CD set, Royalty Music RMCD 001, 1992 German import. I've never seen it on Ebay or in Goldmine Magazine.
Help me if you can...!

I can find it, as well as the volumes 2 and 3, for you. I can obtain most 'old' bootleg CDs in my local record fair.

Is it that horrible??? I've read it's pretty good in sound quality and the demos for a lot of the songs are ones that have never been heard/released since they were recorded.
And I never realised there was more than one volume...! Thanks for that info!

Most of the demos are fake - taken from another fake bootleg. The cover versions are good. the Smile and The Immortals songs are noticibly distorted because the levels were recorded too high. A few songs had horrid sound quality.
I, personally, would not call it dire - but it has obvious faults.
Volumes 2 & 3 are ok too.

All that was stated here concerning the quality of that bootleg is true . The demos are fake - some are hoaxes, some are taken from the BBC sessions.
But, if your are still interested in getting it, as well as the other volumes, then send me an e-mail privately. I am sure we can sort something out.
