Look at that picture. Is it any wonder some people are afraid of gays?

Remember, I'm gay so I can say this :) I have nothing against celebrating who we are, being festive...... but on days like this when we get the most publicity, I think we scare people with this stuff.

Shouldn't we be sending a message of normalness, averageness? You know, we aren't all freaky clowns and I'm just afraid that we're feeding the media a big stereotype here.

People like 'Queer Eye' because again, those guys are acting over-the-top, being comedians. It's a step above dressing like clowns, but still I sorta see the gay image in modern culture as being accepted only for entertainment value.

Blacks were portrayed much the same way for many years in this country. In entertainment, they were either being comical stereotypes or playing maids, or at best they were shown because they were good musicians and singers. It took a long time before we started getting some realistic portrayals of black life.

Are gays going through the same stage? Must we be merely entertainment for a long time before we're accepted into the general populus?

What we need is a black lesbian president. It's a shame Whitney Houston has that drug problem.

I should be more careful in asking questions, but ...

I wonder what Chad would think of this topic???

Maybe I should not have asked.

To be fair, I don't have any problem with it - straight people dress just as garishly for Mardi Gras or, in the UK, the Notting Hill carnival. Whatever floats your boat as far as I am concerned.

Now, if they dressed like that to go to work.........!!

I don't like people who LIKE to tell everyone that they are gay. So what? Like anybody cares

I don't have a problem with it, I rather find such pictures funny.

But some gays make such a big deal of their sexuality.
As if being gay is their personality, like... they're not themselves, they're just gay and they want everybody else to know.
And I think that's why some people get annoyed.

But each to their own.

I'm probably a bit of a hypocrite then. I do seem to mention my sexuality quite often for some reason, and I do act kinda wacky sometimes...

Yeah, what the hell was I thinking posting this anyway? Sorry. Nevermind.

LOL

Yeah, I'm not as mentally stable as I appear.

P.S. - What are you wearing?

There's nothing wrong with it. But there's certainly more about you than your sexualitly.

IMO who deals with his/her sexuality like it's a flag is a sort of provoker, or has some problem accepting it. i don't like this way to behave.
