do you mean that flacs quality is better than mp3s?

Yepper... :)

For any newbies... mp3s are files compressed to slightly lower sound quality, or in some cases, due to poor encoding, much lower sound quality, often resulting in digital noises throughout. And once an mp3 is converted to wave, and encoded back into mp3 again, its quality gets worse.

Once a file is compressed to flac format, it doesn't lose any quality. It can go back to wave, and to flac again, still lossless.

a friend told me that in mp3 the frequencies that a human can´t hear are eliminated, because they are so high or so low for us to hear them, and there was no diffrence in sound quality, and that's why mp3 are a lot shorter than wavs. Compression and less freq's. Is that true?

Yes and no. It does eliminate the frequencies that the ear apparently won't miss. But, although this is how MP3 works, we can still perceive the frequencies that are now missing. Well, almost everyone can!

Which is why we can tell the difference between 22kHz, 44kHz, 96kHz and 192kHz. Although anything above 22kHz is supposed to be out of our range, we can still hear differences in the sound. Mainly because those extra frequencies are doing something that is affecting our perception of the sound.

Something to do with the harmonics.
Cant remember whether it's the 3rd or 5th octave above every note that changes the feel of it.
Even with CD quality the music is clipped at something like 48khz, so differences can sometimes be heard between say a CD and a record.
What the hell we fighting for?

And it's not just the frequency issue. Once again, if someone uses a crap mp3 encoder, the music will very clearly sound all digital, especially if it has been encoded more than once.

Richard: Please let it be soon, i have a very bad quality video of EC. please say "I want to share it with you..."

Thanks again for the audio.

Hi everybody,
Thanks a million for the downloads. I've finished the audio (which I've duly left open for others to avail of) and I've nearly finished the video of Hyde Park. The sound quality on Earl's Court is really amazing. For those of us who are used to mp3, but still miss vinyl, this is the best compromise. I converted the FLAC files to WAV using Flac Frontend (http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=FlacFrontend) and then saved them as audio onto a CD.
Bye for now...

Glad you're all enjoying it! It's the best copy I could come up with. As for PMA's thoughts about it being compressed, this copy was taken from a DVD. Does that count as compression? Even if the spectral view does show compression, I highly doubt one's ear could tell the difference.

Great!
Absolutely wonderful performance.
The sound must be taken from the stage mixer board, hence the dry sound and lack of audience sounds. I had this before, but not at this quality. Very good work indeed. The Bass sound is better than on the official recordings, in my oppinion. Very heavy indeed. It's a pity about the humming sound from some amps all the time, otherwise it would definitely be ready for official release, I think. (Some editing needed though). Anyone know what happend in "YTMBA"? Sounds like an amp stack fell to the floor...

I must say the version of "White Man" is the coolest I've ever heard. Freddie is really mean in that one!

I'm very tired of the impromtu part though...

You can hear that Freddie is a bit tensed during the show, performing on home turf and everything. He often seemd a bit nervous on London shows...

I wonder... Does someone have an audience recording of this? If so, it could be mixed together with this one to give a better live sound. Just a thought.

Peace,
Adam.
