I have a chance to see The Who live in August. Tickets are only about $80.00. Anyone seen them lately? Are they worth going to see now that only half the band is left? I'm tempted in that, realistically, this may well be my one and only chance to see them. But I don't want to go if they're only a pale imitation of what they once were.

I've heard nothing but good about their shows, even since the last death. I'd grab the opportunity myself.
As an added bonus, if you have a younger brother, friend, cousin, some young boy to take along, you can probably meet Pete! I think he's quite interested in boys for some sort of research project he's been conducting.

I don't really like the idea of old bands getting back together for a tour, especially when only half of the band is left. You shouldn't expect more than just a pale immitation, though. The Who's big time is over.
I also think it's ridiculous that the Stones still tour every 2 years or so.
But I like The Who and I think I'd still go and see them just to see what they are like these days.
80$ is ok for a band like The Who. You would never get a band like that for less. It's the name!

Hey, I'd pay 80 dollars to see a broom stick with a nose and Roger Daltrey.
I was just thinking last night, why don't the surviving members of The Beatles and the surviving members of The Who get together. The Who lacks a drummer and a bass player and The Beatles lack a singer and guitarist.
Well if you keep Paul McCartney to playing bass/piano only.
And then Brian and Roger can join too! Then it'd be The Royal Whotles!

I'd pay that much to see The Who, they're legends and I know that they won't be around forever. I'm in desperate need of Van Halen tickets which are about $75

My dad's favorite band is The Who, but he won't see them live anymore because of the ticket prices. These baby boomers don't know how lucky they are. I'd kill to see the Who for five bucks.

Does anyone else remember a few years back when Daltry was swinging his mic around and hit himself in the eye?

Did that actually happen? I'm always afraid of something like that. He makes me very nervous :-P
I heard that Freddie once had a rather embarrassing accident when he sat on a mic stand, but he insisted that the designer be hired immediately as some sort of personal assistant.

Oh wait! No! It was Gary Glitter's microphone that hit Roger in the eye! My mistake!

I know that Big R. was swinging his microphone around once and hit Pete in the ear. Can imagine his wasn't happy about that.

I dunno Holly... it sure wont be the same...It may be worth it to see Townshend and Daltrey but I've already elaborated on this in the Tommy posting. I'll say once more...The Who gave their farewell concert in Toronto in 1982....even then they were down a man!

Certainly. Now Ox is gone they're half as good as they used to be. Although that's not saying they don't rock. It's just that Roger and Pete..well the magic is still there but there are two certain bunnies that aren't there.
Is Zakk Starkey still playing the drums for 'em?
