Philadelphia

I just rented "Philadelphia" last night. That was one of the best movies I've ever seen. Tom Hanks plays a lawyer who felt he was fired from his job at a law firm because he had AIDS, so he sues them. It was so sad watching him get sicker and sicker. One weird thing was that his long-term lover was Antonio Banderas. Tom Hanks and Antonio Banderas struck me as a very odd coupling. Anyhoo, this movie will make you cry (especially near the end).

It's an excellent film. Very painful to watch but well done by all those involved.

There was supposed to be a special edition region 1 DVD a couple months ago but it got delayed. The existing one is very primitive, one of Columbia TriStar's very first DVDs from 1997, though they did re-release it once with a different coloured cover.

I love the Springsteen video. It features a live vocal with the backing track.

The Neil Young title track is a heartbreaker too.

Awesome movie - of course, nothing with Tom Hanks in it can be that bad. I teared up a bit at the end as well.

I have the movie and it is definitely good - but sad. The court scenes were some of the most upsetting, I thought. Tom Hanks is a great actor, so I'm pretty much willing to see anything he's in.

Such a good movie... very sad. I love it!

He won Best Actor two years in a row. He won in 1993 for "Philadelphia" and he won in 1994 for "Forrest Gump."

I love that film, it's excellent. I love Tom Hanks and Antonio on that film. Well, I like them both always!

I cried. Alot.

i find Tom Hanks irritating but in this film he was very good - so too was Denzil Washington!

Those old, white, bigotted lawyers were major pooheads.

One of my favourite films. I've watched it at least 8 times or so and it still makes me cry.

Brilliant soundtrack, both Bruce Springsteen's and Neil Young's Philadelphia (at the end of the film) are 2 of my all time favourites.

I;m actually using this film right now to teach kids about discrimination / prejudices and about AIDs in general.

Yes, but brilliant actors and two of them are no longer with us. Jason Robards and Robert Ridgely. They both had their final performances in theatrical films by Paul Thomas Anderson by the way.. "Boogie Nights" (Ridgely) and "Magnolia" (Robards).

unfortuanely most kids still see Aids as the Gay disease... and believe they deserve it.
