i dunno - it seems many people post simply to increase their post count - without actully saying anything useful

Yeah I used to frequent another forum where they'd heavily punish people who posted about their post counts :-P

Or made obviously pointless extra posts

Like for example, if you were to add several replies to a topic.

I mean close to together, when you could have said everything in one.

There's an extra 'to' in there, sorry.

Pfft... my brain works in strange ways. When I read your title (clearly regarding your post total) my mind converted it into song. In the form of Bowie's Five Years, replacing those words with "800 posts"... and it doesn't even GO!

I'd say it's quality, not quantity ... although the Beatles need a bit of both.
