Can anyone tell me exactly how many versions (music + instrumental) of Love Kills exist? I have six but have heard there are more (including the shortened version in Metropolis).
Did one go to the top of the European dance charts in 1985?

(12. Queen version)
If I'm not mistaken, Brian said in the FM box that LK originally was worked on as a Queen track?

Forgot about the radio mix... thanks Pim :)

There's also a 'white-label' remix.

Ooh -- thank you thank you!!! Does that include the different 12" versions from different countries?

Another thing too: on the inner sleeve of the CD and the vinyl soundtrack album, there's a completely different set of lyrics, which I've always wondered: were these ever set to music?
I digress!
LOVE KILLS
If you had kept your eyes wide open
You might have stood at least a chance
You could have taken some precaution
At least have had a second glance
Love is lethal, love's a crime
Love is fatal, love's a tyrant
Love is murder, love destroys
Love won't stop till
Love kills
Love hides and waits within your feelings
It's full of cloak-and-dagger style
And always ready without warning
To sentence you without a trial
Love is lethal, love's a crime
Love is fatal, love's a tyrant
Love is murder, love destroys
Love holds on until
Love kills
So now you're staring at the future
But you can't take along the past
And emptiness, that silver bullet
Slams and tears right through your heart
Love is lethal, love's a crime
Love is fatal, love's a tyrant
Love is murder, love destroys
Love won't stop until
Love kills
The melody does not fit with these lyrics!!
I would LOVE to hear this version...

I'd LOVE to hear it if it were ever recorded...wonder if Giorgio Moroder has it somewhere??

I have that. That's the one that was made in 2000, right?

Those "alternate" lyrics sound like they would fit "Life is Real."

I wonder what year was that lyric written? On the LP and CD (for all artists), the copyright is 1984.

Unofficial dance maxi.
Love Kills was recorded by QUEEN, but no one seems to remember if John's synthesized bass was finally used on the master. Roger's programmed drums and Brian's guitar are on the original mixes.
It is interesting -but not surprising- to note that QUEEN's song Machines is somewhat reminiscent of Giorgio Moroder's composition of the same name, also on METROPOLIS OST.

WHOA!!!
13 versions now. Gotta find 'em all!!!
Yes, I agree with you about the last track on the soundtrack (and in the movie) -- they do sound similar. (Maybe The Works was a big advert for Metropolis and nobody noticed? LOL)
