FINALLY!! Pink Floyd's "The Wall" to be made into a Broadway musical.

Yeah, but Rien's right too. Nobody is obliged to go and see the The Wall musical, nor the WWRY musical. If you don't like it, don't go to see it.
But I do agree that I don't like the trend of everything being turned into a musical. I can understand Mama Mia, because a lot of people that like Abba, like musicals. That's a fact. In Queen's case I guess it's more or less 50-50, but with Floyd and especially a concept like The Wall I can't imagine there is a lot of fans that are very fond of musicals.
The Abba-songs also lend pretty well for musicals because they have the same type of atmosphere in a lot of cases, the arrangements lend themselves for the musical-approach. Sure, Queen's songs (some of them) do too, but the feeling of the songs, the atmosphere changes a whole lot. Luckily Bri and Roger are involved in it so they keep some of their authensity. Personally I don't like it, but to be honest I 'm not too fond of the way the Queen-songs sound nowadays even when they are performed by Brian and Roger themselves.
Roger Waters has stuck with the 'sound' we know from him. I still find a Waters solo-gig more like a Pink Floyd show, then Gilmour-Pink Floyd shows. They don't sound like Pink Floyd, Waters does. And knowing Waters will never do anything with The Wall unless he is 100% sure it is superb (yeah I know what happened in Berlin, I was there, but the idea was good. It was the technical side that made the gig into what it turned out to be) I do have hopes that this musical will be great nevertheless. Good thing he is involved himself. Although I still have my idea's and fears as mentioned above.

I just read that Roger Waters is going to write some new songs for the musical as well :-)
on the other hand he wont include all The Wall songs :-(. Maybe they don't all fit into a musical concept. I don't know if you have seen the WWRY musical, not to go on and hammer you down on this, but the music and the songs and the show are really good. (yeah yeah we know that by now).
It's not just a musical it is a rock musical :-)

But then... if one can write new songs for a musical one can also make a new album...

My guess is that finally we'll get to see a musical more dark, more psychadelic, and less gay.

Actually, I saw an interview with Waters where he said that he realy regrets cutting out all the humour that innitially was in the "Wall" concept... He said that humour is and always was a very big part of him and therefore it's sth he really misses in the final version of the concept... I would expect dark humour, though... Which could add a new dimension to it... Some sarcasm or sth...

I loved the dark humor that was on the album...

Just listen to the beginning of "One of My Turns"... or all of "The Trial"! :)
