Nineteen and counting. Michael Phelps seems to be virtually unstoppable! China's close too with 18 gold.
I don't know if any Brazillian fans post here but the men's Brazillian volleyball team are animals. They are no way going home without the gold!
Volleyball, weightlifting and swimming - the three best olympic events, no?

I'm sure other countries could win that many gold with half the population in every single event. EVEN IN HANDBALL! WHAT IS THAT SPORT? I'm thinking of joining a handball team, making the national teams and kicking ass in Beijing 2008. How's that? An Australia Handball team.
...this kettle is boiling over... ...one dump...one turd...two tits...John Deacon... ...one prawn...one shrimp...one clam...one chicken!

What? Did somebody say 49 medals?

The Olympics are sort of like school. There's the top tier (in this case the USA and China), which is about the top 5 or 10% of the class. Then there is an enormous drop to the middle tier, which are the other college bound hopefuls (Japan to about Great Britain or so). Finally is the last tier, which includes about 75% of everyone, which can be explained in three words: "GED", "Community", and "Dropout".
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.

That is so wrong on so many levels. I liked the story of the Pakastani swimmer. Just proves that all winners aren't going home with medals...

I would really prefer if you would specify the levels.

Also, passion does not always result in glory. If you don't go home with any medals, you are still basically a loser, though. However, being a loser does not diminish one's greatness.

Been having problems logging in but it was great to steal the 4x100m mens relay from under the USA's noses ... we beat the Olympic 100m champion, the Olympic 200m champion and made the 100m World Record Holder and 100m bronze medallist look a bit ordinary. And one of our boys only competed in that race!

Kelly Holmes was fantastic and no shame on Amir Khan for getting a well-earned silver.
