If Freddie was still alive today would Queen still be able to fill big venues like wembley or knebworth ?

Yes
Not those are losers who fall, but those who don't stand up.

If they'd continued making successful albums, definitely.
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.

I think probably, although I find Queen more sophistecated than the Stones. Maybe they would be doing it a little differently.

Yes, totally agree with you Robin. I just took the Stones as an example of "sacred monster"...

I don't think they would like to do big stadium concerts, they'd rather do smaller ones, like in 70s. Freddie used to say that it would be ridiculous to perform after reaching 50 and more, so I think there wouldn't be big stadium tours. They would rather concentrate on recording, playing with other musicians and things like that.

If Freddie was still alive, baby, they'd have to build BIGGER stadiums.

Without a doubt, they would!
I mean, the interest in Queen is still enormous if they set up a musical that now tours the whole world.
They are great musicians and if Freddie was still here he'd also be so why shouldn't they be able to fill stadiums?

But I doubt that they'd still WANT to do such big tours. Freddie once said that he thought of going into production or something.

I'm positive they would. And if they had some more concerts in the US, I would go to all of 'em!

As Sonja pointed out, it is always more difficult to find out the strong motivation to keep going on... When you have reached the most important goals in your activity there is a moment in which you ask to yourself: "Well, ok, and then?"...

And I agree with you even on the other point: undoubtly the interest is still very high and the WWRY musical is a clear evidence of that but... Let's play the "what if" game a little bit more... Are we sure that all this interest would have been the same if Freddie hadn't died?

Dunno, but not that sure... Nice points, anyway.

It would surely depend on whether people still liked their music - I'd have to hope like fuck that they didn't follow their disco experimentation a la Hot Space with hip-hop experimentation.
