I thought Canadian CDs were expensive enough - and then I go to Australia... and voila! The price is double that of my town!
But then again, their HMVs have Flash Gordon so can't complain... (and I DO like the tracks!)
To answer the question, I absolutely do believe that downloading songs for trying out is not only harmless but beneficial to sales - I would NEVER have gotten into Queen if there weren't internet - my family is very not rock-culture-oriented, if you know what I mean. But I also believe that downloading must be ensued by the purchase. No question about it. You don't need to collect every single item ever issued, but the official albums? Buy them, so much worthier than the mp3s.

Come on Pimmy, soften up! I didnt havce money to burn at £17 a time on music! Not even a phone, so dont assume this lass does! And dont pretend you dont download. Everyone has done it!
Go for kazaa and get yourself a really good firewall and anti virus stuff.
people nowadays seem to be very lazy. In the days when I didnt had the internet and was already fan for a few years, I looked everything up using books, going to a library and lent some cd's, copied them to cass, played them, saved money, and bought a cd now and then. It took me quite a few years untill I had them all. These days all the newbies seem to go online, think that they are a fan, hook up on some forum, ask for a place where they can d/l the albums for free and log off. In the mean time they use reasons such as "im too young", "dont have any money" and the best one is probably "cant find the albums here".
3 dollars a week isn't much, but if you save 4-5 weeks you can already buy a new cd! Yes, only 4-5 weeks! That isn't so long is it? You're 13... so you don't have to buy drugs, alcohol or sigarettes. You can easily save your money.
Just think of it... how would you get hold of all the Queen albums if there wasn't any internet? Perhaps you would look for a way to earn some money so you can buy more albums? Or maybe some other methods? Asking family members? Friends? Maybe they have some albums? I remember that I even asked teachers at school if they had vinyl copies of Queen albums.
u've never been to London hav u? one CD is £17.99. So I get £2.00 a week, 2*4= £8, 2*5 = £10.00! I have to save 9 weeks, or maybe 8 weeks unlesss there is a reaLLY gd sale. (THAT PRICE IS FOR QUEEN CDS AS WELL)! Grrr, 4 Gods sake. Also I would work but it's skool term and during the summer i cld do jobs at my dad's plc. but he takes a lot of work off so it's practically impossible. (And my mum only pays me £1.00 to clean all the stairs (THAT'S TWO STAIRCASES in a Victorian House (v. high ceilings)! It wqould take me years!!!!!!!!
enyway i'm saving up for a cd rite now i just wanna find some stuff while I'm saving for Cds coz i can't take that long without Queen :(
like soz, but i do try to work, seriously. and wen i do my mum either doesn't pay me, or she pays me like nuthing. Or she doesn't let me do it (she's a v. keen housewife and likes to do some of it, other times she doesn't trust me to do it)!

"Not everyone gets enough pocketmoney to buy albums"
>>> GET? Example: I worked all summer in 2000 to get the damn Freddie solo box. Worked in the summer of 1999 to get stuff like Hits 3, Flix 3 etc etc.
The difference is that you were 15 or 16 and she is probably not allowed to work.
"Pim, i really don't like the way you talk here with such an arrogance about newbies. How old are you? 18 or something?"
>>> 19 to be precise.
It's too sad to be true
"And you're talking about newbies???"
>>> Yep, and I'm not the only one who's fucking tired with "where can I find the easter-eggs on GVH1", "why does Eminem have a Queenlink on his site" and "where's Jhon?".
All those questions are relavant. I know you can look for them on the net, but it is the easiest way to ask your fellow fans. Plus, this is also a way to get in touch with people. This site doesn't has a possibility to search for older threats as far as I know (and when it does, it is not obvious where and how to use it).
"What about you? You must be the biggest newbie on this forum in life."
>>> Not really - been here for over 4 years. Been a fan since 1992.
So what?? That doesn't give the right to stand above the other fans. There are people on this forum, who have been fan since the 70's and none of them are talking the shitty way you do..
"It's really sad that this atmosphere in this forum is created."
>>> No - it's really sad that these new fans are to lazy to look things up for themselves and then act like little children when they're told to get lost.
Example: fictive: you're in a new supermarket, and you're looking for shampoo, but you don't know where to look for it. There is personel. What would you do? a) Looking for a while where the shampoo is or b) just ask it where it is and take it away immedately? I guess it would be B. What do you think when somebody would talk to you the way you did to Sophia and others?
Pim, i guess you just have to learn a lot. I'm really ashamed that you're from the same country as I am. You're the stereotype dutchman. Everywhere they come the loudest and biggest arrogant mouth. Just be cool and tolerate something from eachother. That's all. When somebody asks a questions which is so obvious for you doesn't mean it is for that person. They certainly don't post it to annoy Mr Derks. When it's annoying you, just don't say anything or give a normal answer with a link where the answer is. I agree with you that you can say people where to find stuff, but i dislike the tone of your speaking. Who the hell do you think you are??

(THAT PRICE IS FOR QUEEN CDS AS WELL)Are you from London...? Than try BUY-SELL-TRADE shops @ Notting Hill- upstairs they've got sometimes nice (and expensive) collectables but there is the bargain basement with extremely cheap albums (sometimes some Queen there- around...£3...) and on the ground floor they have in POP/ROCK section usually most of the albums... They start from £8-7 and than every week if the album isn't sold they take off £1... I've seen there ANATO or ADATR for £4, in excellent quality... Other BUY-SELL-TRADE shops are on CAMDEN TOWN and near Oxford Street (Wardour Street)
Yeah I worked the hole fucking time since I was twelve to get some pocket money to buy Live At Wembley, the greatest video hits and all the other Queen DVD and VCD. Get out your lazy chair and work cause live ain´t free, if I haven´t worked I would not have 750 euro´s spended on DVD´s, dolby surround, big television and a DVD-player I worked the hell out of me to get those things on my bedroom you know.
sounds a bit like an old grandpa complaining about how the now-a-day children are spoiled.
But I mean it.
It's written a bit in Alexey-style, but of course your not as brilliant as he is.
