"Even if Green Day is clearly in self-important rock opera mode -- "Are We the Waiting" sounded like "Unforgettable Fire"-era U2 -- it still knows how to poke fun at itself. For the final song, Billie Joe pulled off a bit of black tape, affixed it to his upper lip in lieu of a Freddie Mercury mustache, and led the band through a dead-on version of Queen's "We are the Champions." Campy, but a well-deserved victory crow."
