Hi what do we think of Status Quo?
I think they are great.
Anyone got their new album?
I have got it
I'm just a musical prostitute my dear! FREDDIE MERCURY 1984

Good when drunk. When you are sober in the cold light of day you realise how little talent they have got. You may say the three-chord formula works so don't break it, but its bloody boring.

Can anyone tell the difference between Whatever You Want, Rock and Roll, Down-Down and Burning Bridges? I know I can't. They have, however, provided me with a good laugh for taking Radio 1 to court for not playing their new record. Didn't the Judge say something like of its not good enough its not good enough. Fantastic.
Guess who's back?

The problem is that the Quo where great in their day, but in the past ten or fifteen years they seem to have taken a wrong turning somewhere.
I think it all started when Alan Lancaster left the band. Anyway.
I don't think you can beat a good 70's night with a bit of 'Down Down' or 'Roll Over Lay Down' rocking the walls.
What the hell we fighting for?

Theyre ok. They used more chords than the beatles!
Chom own mudder fukker.

........and i don't think beatles (rubber soul onwards) used less chords than quo!
as for quo...or or two good songs...

paper plane....mystery song....wild side of life (i know it was a cover)...big fat mama...rain
go deo na hÉireann The best QZ epoch: BG17-00 (Before Gerry 1996-2013)
B
....and one other thing....i do remember wtaching them support queen at wembley...the rain p***ing down, thinking this is a great live act...how will queen follow this?

shouldn't have had any doubts really...as freddie had the audience eating out of his hand...by the third song...lap of the gods

Yep, the Quo were excellent when they supported Queen in 86. At Newcastle INXS were also the support but they had trouble with their van on the motorway so did'nt make it. Quo played a longer set and put everyone in the right mood for what was to come.

Very good songs: In the Army Now, Whatever You Want, Rocking All Over The World

I still can't understand how Queen managed to get such stars as Status Quo and Gary Moore as their warm-up bands for the Magic Tour. I guess this really tells you how big they were back in 1986!
Not those are losers who fall, but those who don't stand up.

Agreed! :D

Rockin' All Over The World was their fantastic song. Most Rock bands have one really great, time tested rock track in them and that was theirs. Some of the others were good aswell though.
Whatever You Want, Down Down Etc.
Anyone heard Pictures of Matchstick Men, their first song. It's awful, unlike any other Quo song. Very boybandish.

Paper plane, Down down, Caroline, Mystery song, Wild side of life, What your proposing and lots more classic rocking songs, these guys have been around longer than Queen and had as many hits as them, so they must be pretty decent.
There must be more to life than this.

Rocking all over the World is a classic song. They had it in them to do a cover version of it. Its a John Fogerty song. But you already knew that.

Brian_Mays_Wig: "They used more chords than the beatles!"

This is a joke ofcourse? George Harrison was one of the most under-estimated guitarists ever!

Also: I agree if you mean tracks like "Tomorrow Never Knows" (just one chord), but the chord progession on "Something" is something Quo could not equal.

Where's Sebastian when you really need him?
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
