Hey guys, I remember reading somewhere that the Freddie Tribute Concert was like the most watched event in history and like everyone with a tv in the world saw it.... or half the world's population. Is this accurate? Thanks.

Can you imagine half the world's population watching a concert on TV? Half the world's population doesn't even have a TV.

Well, I think that half of the world population is quite unlikely to have seen the FMT on TV... Considering all the older people, the children, those who don't care about music at all, it would have already been an astonishing result if 1.000.000.000 people had been tuned on that...

It's just an opinion, I don't exactly know... Anyway it seems quite reliable to me

It might have been one of the most watched music events in TV history.

But statistics say that the World Cup final is the most watched event TV in history. Every 4 years the record seems to break.

I've been searching for the figures for an hour on the internet, but I can't find them for ya... sorry. Still no satisfying answer on your question. This seems to be a hard one.

They spoke about one billion people, just like Live Aid... but I don't believe it. It was broadcasted everywhere but it's impossible to estimate who was watching. I myself don't usually watch various "Tribute to ..." concerts and I do like rock - now imagine all the grandmothers, grandfathers etc.
