Does anyone live near Farnborough, England? I may be living there by early next year and I need some inside info.

Fair enough Harvey. I'll give you a nice north Belfast welcome.

It's full of illegal immigrants.

You'll love it.

My sister lives pretty close to Farnborough, Holly and I used to live/work close to that area too. Anything you want to know, just ask and I'll do my best to answer.

Thanks Bob. I just need some general impressions. From what I've heard, it's a commuter town for London so house prices are high. Is it rural? built up? How long is the commute to London? etc. When I know for sure, I'll do more detailed research.

Farnborough itself is fairly built up - you would have to look slightly further out if you want a more rural place to live. House prices are extremely high - my sister is just north of Farnborough, she has a (nothing special) 4 bed house and is valued at £300,000+.

If you want to commute into London then you have 2 choices - car or train. I have no idea how long it takes by train because I never use 'em, if I had to guess I would say maybe an hour and a half. By car, it's a nightmare! Driving into London at anytime is a royal pain in the arse - not forgetting that you have to pay £5 a day for the privelege and then pay extortionate parking fees.

Personally, I wouldn't mind living in the Farborough area - it's handy for the Farnborough Airshow and it has a bike shop that sells Harleys!

If you want specific details, feel free to email me - bobvye@hotmail.com. I can always ask my sister - she woud have a better idea of trains and local facilities.
