I had to take Spanish 1, 2, and 3. It was pretty tough, I'm so glad it's over!
Comprende muchacho.

I had Spanish in grades 5-8... Now I take Latin, and I find it much more enjoyable, but I had A+s in Spanish my last few years and I have an A+ in Latin now, I believe.

hey killerqueen840,um...what is the difference between spanish and latin?(i know it's a stupid question.)

Fourth year university....

-Principles of gene manipulation (evil)

-Techniques in molecular biology and bioinformatics (eviler--it's strictly a lab course, and I happen to be a complete klutz in the lab)

-Insect physiology

-Terrestrial arthropod diversity (awesome course!)

-Independent research project on carnivorous sponges. (full year honours project; a lot of work, but very rewarding. I'll likely have a hand in naming a recently discovered sponge, and get at least one scienfic publication out of it)

Well they are completely different languages, but since Latin is the base for most languages, there are some words that are similar between them... like "amo" and quite a few others.

WOW!!!thank you killerqueen840! i finally know the differences!

Well, a major difference that seems to have been left out is that Latin was spoken by the ancient Romans...and Spanish is spoken in all modern Hispanic countries. Latin is a dead language.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.
K
Oh yes, you just had to bring up the fact that it's a dead language... :-P

StrangeQuark, I do not envy you your courseload at all! Goodness, I'm glad I'm sticking with an 'easier' major...

I'm taking (this semester) Discrete Mathematics I, Elementary Spanish II, American History Pre-Civil War, General Psychology, and Basic Geology. It's a nice simple load for my first semester in college...

Next semester, I'm hoping to get at least one ballet course, and I'm also planning on taking a basic/beginning piano class. And finally get into the Calc class I've been waiting for since I got here...

Oh well, after seeing what so many others are taking, I've just realized I lost my right to whine about my classes. That's a depressing thought...

Ja ne!

I got my report card like two weeks ago, and I'm very proud to announce I had an overall average of 98 in Latin!!! I was thrilled! :-D

But of course, I missed highest honors by a stupid 89 (off one freaking point) in Religion..but that's because the teacher is nutty and forgets everything..I won't go into detail for the sake of all of you.
