I was pretending to talk to Jim Beach on the phone this morning and he confided in me that the next official DVD release will be a compilation of out-takes and bloopers from Queen videos, concerts and interviews. Hilights will include:
During the filming of the video for 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love', while the dancer rips open Freddie's t-shirt she accidently catches a couple of hairs from his chest and he screams in pain and calls her a clumsy slag.
During the same video Freddie stands on one of the hands poking through the stage and breaks three of a roadie's fingers.
At a concert in Germany in 1977, John played a prank on Brian by replacing one of his plectrums with a razor blade. As soon as Brian starts to play, he snaps an E string which whips back and takes out his left eye.
In the middle of an interview with Keith Chegwin on 'Cheggars Plays Pop' a fully grown African Elephant from the studio next door (in which Animal Magic is being recorded) goes on the rampage and gores Roger to death with it's mighty tusks.
During the concert at Wembley in 1986, a huge inflatable Brian balloon breaks free from it's moorings and soars into the skies above London. The camera follows it up and we see it being sucked into the engine of a Boeing 747 bound for Heathrow, resulting in the deaths of all 378 passengers and crew on board.
During the filming of the video for Radio Ga Ga, Roger seems to be out of synch with his hand movements and the director threatens to kick his fucking head in.
During the filming of the video for 'The Miracle' Michael Jackson arrives on set and several of the children are seen emerging from his trailer, crying and trembling with fear.
One of the clay figures from the 'Innuendo' video fluffs his lines and all the other figures fall around laughing.
During the concert at Budapest in 1986, Freddie has to read the lyrics of an obscure Hungarian folk song scribbled on the palm of his hand. Unfortunately he reads the wrong hand and sings the phone number of a Hungarian barman he met the night before.
At the end of the video for 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' when Freddie looks into the camera for his final farewell to his fans, the cameras keep rolling and we see Pheobe smack him in the face with a custard pie.
During the fiming of the video for Breakthrough, the stage hands play a joke on Roger by building up the platform on which his drum kit is situated and driving the train under a low bridge at 125 mph. By the time they realise that Roger is missing from the train they are 18 miles further down the line.
In an out-take from the video for 'Play The Game' John can be seen smiling.
This DVD should be in the shops in time for Christmas and is priced at £19.99. I didn't get a chance to ask about any extra features as my wife wanted to speak to her sister and I had to stop playing with the phone.
