It's certainly not in the genes, but does somebody CHOOSE to be gay? I always thought it was about one's personal preferences, the way he feels attracted by men or by women... I've recently read about Heidegger, the great German philosopher, who was gay, but (because he had been raised like the average puritan guy) he didn't want to be gay. He eventually ended being like that and loved a guy, but never came to terms with his sexuality. So if he had had the choice, he probably would have chosen to be straight. But he was gay, whether he liked it or not. So, I just don't know if it's about choice... Any opinions about that? (I don't know the exact truth, cos I'm not gay)

It was sarcasm. Your sexuality is pre-determined in your DNA before you are born, so yes, it is in the genes. A person can choose to DENY their sexuality, whether by religion or parental pressure, but a person's body knows what it knows, and if that body is a male and doesn't prefer females, it'll find ways of telling the person that.
