Queen the only band in Argentina

I've read in several sites that Queen was the only band in occuping the top 10 albums sales with 10 of their albums in any country. Argentina in this case.

I live in Argentina. There are a lot of Queen fans. A lot of cover bands. Queen tracks are often heard at music shops and at Popstars programs. We are the champions is heard every new Soccer champion consagration...

...But the "score" would seem like too much to me.

Does anybody have aditional info (Dates, albums, CONFIRMATION) ??

How big is Queen in Argentina, really? Despite the Falklands war and shit. Please elaborate.

Of course there are plenty of view points. But mostly there isn't a big quarrel to English people.

Here, in 1982 the dictatorship was about to fall, and as an ultimate chance to stay in the government they invaded the Falklands in a very improvised war.(They would thought they'd stay if Argentina won the war).

So the war finished, the result was catastrophic and the dictators fell (into prision in most cases...)

So mostly, Dictatorship and Pinochet's Chile are seen as the bad guys of the time. Not English people, neither English music at all.

Of course, as argentinian I would prefer Falkland/Malvinas to be part of Argentina. But not in such a ridiculous way.

seeing I was there 6 times, it feels good to be in a place where Queen is still played a lot, shopping at Coto's and hearing I want to break free, and seeing random ppl walking with Queen shirts, you dont see that in the states

You know, I was walking around campus with my queen shirt on, and some guy noticed and said "hey, nice shirt". I can't quite say if it was an insult or a nice comment. But hey, at least it was noticed.

The campus was in Argentina? No, it doesn't sound so ironic in spanish as in english. If you didn't know the guy, and he wasn't laughing, it wasn't an insult.

The campus was in California, the guy looked like a skater-shit punker.

Yes, QUEEN is still popular here. I noticed that even very young people get into it. That makes me feel good (...and sometimes sad, because I realize I am not getting any younger ;-).

And yes, we blame that bloody war to that nasty fact government.

Young people here only like hard-rocking Queen. Make them listen to Millionaire's Waltz, or Bring Back that Leroy Brown, and I bet they'll be dumbfounded that Queen is not just WWRY or WATC.

during the falklands war, Queen were near the top of the charts.

Recently I made my schoolmates listen to "Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon" and the most common reaction is: "why are you listening to this German crap" when I was showing them the name QUEEN on the CD - cover they were truly suprised and when after that I maed them listen "Death On Two Legs" this suprise grow in a wonder :)

let them listen to Who Needs You or Melancholy Blues, and let them guess who sang that. furthermore, tell them it's on the same album as WWRY and WATC
