Tragedy happened last saturday as a former Euroleague champion suddenly died during an official game. Tauras Stumbrys, 34, collapsed in the second quarter of a game. He even didnt play at that moment, just was sitting on the bentch, and when he was trying to stand up, he collapsed unconscious. Niether team doctors nor emergency medical personnel were able to resuscitate him. Doctors can't say yet exact reasons of the death, but they think it was sudden sheer heart attack (infarct).
The story is even more shocking, because incidentally press-photographer of the biggest newspaper here - Lietuvos Rytas - has photographed Tauras Stumbrys that moment when something weird happened to him and he was dying (died), and today this picture is infront of that newspaper. I cant understand how they dared to publish this photo, they have no moral rules and limits, they dont care how could feel his family, his friends looking HIS face awry with pain the very last moment of his life...
Could it happen so in your country, or this is just standart of news-media around the world?

Something very similar happened last year during a football (soccer) match.

For those footie fans you might remember that last year during the Confederations Cup in France, Cameroon and Colombia were playing the semi-final match when all of sudden during the 30 minutes of the second half, Marc Vivien Foe from Cameroon all of sudden dropped unconscious on the ground. His eyes were rolled all the way up and he looked really bad. There weren't any serious injuries during play time that could have been considered a cause for him to drop unconscious.

Cameroon won the match 1-0 but at the moment the end of the game the players had no idea that things were a lot worse than they thought. 30 minutes after the match ended Marc Vivien Foe died. Doctors found that he had a heart attack.

There was also a figure skater, Sergei Grinkov, who died many years ago of a heart attack while rehearsing with his skating partner, who was also his wife. That story always struck me as sooo tragic . . .
Playful as a pussycat.

A lot of boxers have died on the ring, or after falling unconscious after a fight.

The most disturbing one of all... that Russian guy beating the crap out of Apollo on Rocky IV.
