Hi Janet, here's another question
After an exotic bird like a parrot or cuckatoo has developed a bond with it's owner, what are the chances that the bird might fly away if it's taken outside.
Is it always necessary to clip a bird's wings if you decide to take them outdoors?

Oh my...PLEASE don't ever take an unclipped bird outdoors. It doesn't matter how bonded they are to you, if something startles them, etc they will take off...and sadly you usually don't find them again. They don't understand that they won't be able to find their way back to you. If you're going to take your bird outside, its wings should always be clipped. This does NOT hurt the bird in any way. Its just like you getting a haircut. Its a trimming of the flight feathers, and they do grow back after the bird molts, so its wise to take a bird regularly for a proper wing clipping.
When I am elected, I will make SURE that ALL birds are BORN with clipped wings.

Don't forget to give birds the right to be sexy, Dan.
And to Janet, thank you so much once again. My Quaker Parrot is actually growing back his wings now, but he still can barely fly.
The other day I took him out when I was cleaning his cage, and for once he spotted a cat walking close by. That scared him and bit, and he tried to fly, but immediatly I picked him up and brought him back inside the house. I won't be taking him out without his wings properly clipped, though.
Besides, I won't be taking him out probably until March because it's been getting really cold outside.
