Next year we'll see releases of Rainbow'74 and GVH III (late spring and autumn). This info I've got from one reliable Russian source.
Maybe we get 3 in 2005.... GH3, ADATR DVD-A, and another....

Does such a thing even exist? I would have thought the only surviving footage would be what was used in the original TV broadcast.
My understanding of how TV networks work (or at least the way they worked back in those days), they never kept stuff that didn't make it to air. If they sent a crew to film, let's say a 90 minute concert, and they cut it down to 50 minutes for broadcast, the rest of it would just be thrown in the dustbin.
IF the complete and unedited Rainbow concert exists somewhere, I would most definitely love to see it!
Earls Court? Hyde Park? Bejart's Ballet? Who knows...
I can't speak for anyone else, but Hyde Park strikes me as a less than great performance. Well, not the performance so much, the band sounds good (apart from the occasionally out of tune back up vocals), but there seemed to be more than a few technical problems, judging from my copy. You can't hear Roger's vocal at ALL during March Of The Black Queen, and Freddie's vocal mic at the piano seemed to be much lower in the mix than his other mic that he used when he wasn't playing piano.
Maybe they could fix some of those problems if they have a multi-track recording of the audio. They could bring the piano mic up further in the mix, but you can't fix something that didn't get recorded (as would seem to be the case with the March Of The Black Queen gaffe), unless you have Roger overdub a new vocal, or cut in a recording from a different performance.
Who knows? Maybe they'll be able to get around these problems, or maybe they could issue as bonus material on another DVD.
How about the Queen video collection? With 'alternate' versions of the videos? Or Greatest Flix III?
Or the We Will Rock You musical DVD?

Seriously, MK is fantastic, but now it's time for the older stuff. Maybe something like Led Zep did with their "DVD":
-they could compile several shows (e.g. campuchea, rainbow, munich, paris, budokan) on one Disc and maybe one full concert, perhaps Hyde Park, on the second. As a "Queen live in the 70's"-compilation !
-to be followed by a "Queen Rock'n'America-Compilation Triple-DVD featuring the full Houston, and snippets from LA '82 (if existing), Montreal, if ownership is returned to QP someday, and the TV-recordings from South America including Rio '85.
-to be followed by (its a nice topic, I'm really carried away by it) "Queenmania in asia" a massive 3-DVD-Set with full Budokan, Seibu Lions and '85
-to be followed by "The Queen-Tornado - A Magic Tour" with the full Budapest show and a documentary with snippets from Mannheim, Wembley first night and what exists of Knebworth
-and finally, released as single concerts over the next few years Hammy '75 and of course Earls Court - they can fix the mic-thing, I'm sure !!!

It's very nice of you here to mention the '70's and to show the nice ideas.
To tell the truth, I've thought of being little hope about "Hyde Park" in full. For example, Freddie's first words of "Bo Rhap" are unheard till he is soon heard again with "so you think...". I realized there were sounds problems at that time as I read it in "A Concert Documentary" by Mr.Greg Brooks.
About "Rainbow"... there seems to be much more possibility than "Hyde Park"... I also have it's bootleg. The more I see it, the more I want to see "Rainbow" in full. Because it seems that some numbers were edited in strange order and some numbers are missing or shortened. It makes me irritated a little.
I think some problems have made them restrict releasing DVDs. But anyway, whether in full or not, I do hope '70's will come out more and more. I want them to think about it realistically. I'll wait for their release with patience...

Ok, I agree with you that it's time for a 70's release now,
but I can't understand why so many people wants compilations...
Some of those shows you mentioned, - if not all of them - exist in their entirety.
Why not release 2 full shows instead? :)
Alright mr. Regor, I think a compilation is not such a good idea. why not a complete concert? right? it's more funn.

Of course I would prefer full concerts too, but they could incorporate those partly-filmed shows as they did on the second disc of MK. (I know Seibu exists in full, but Simon Lupton and JSS already said that there is still a possibility for a full release - thus my "Queenmania in Asia"-Proposal)
E.g. Munich and LA '82 are only recorded partly as far as I know, and especially about Rainbow I often heard that it probably does not exist in its entirety anymore. Would be a nice surprise if they exist as full shows, of course. I agree with all of you about that !

But I remember now that LZ couldn't do it any other way, because thats about everything they have of those shows... they even incorporated Hi8-shots from one member of the audience at Knebworth into the professionally filmed material, which I find very clever, as it even looks kinda "arty"...
It seems that there is a lot more Queen-Filmmaterial out there, the compilation thing was just a proposal for the 2nd disc of possible future releases. The first disc should always include at least one full show !!! (and with double sided-2 layer DVD's there will even be enough space for more than one entire show on one disc !)
If I should pick one particular show as next release right now, it would be Earls Court, as I heard only good things about it. And the snippets I've already seen are very promising ! Despite the micing-problems, I'm sure they can fix that ! They might use e.g. piano-tracks from another show, I would fully back and understand that.

So the hope for "Rainbow" in its entirety might be less than what I first expected.....

There's not many shows on video with Freddie in such top shape.
