I read this thing where John Deacon (a while back) was bashing the fact that Brian and Roger collaborated with Robbie Williams for 'We are the Champions.' And then to read that he doesn't go in public, wants his privacy, doesn't perform...etc. What is up? Has he broken ties with Brian and Roger????

I don't think he's bitter. He's got the right to voice his opinion on what Brian and Roger are doing now, and just because he doesn't feel that that collaboration was the right move doesn't make him bitter. And we can't fault him for wanting to retire, because after so many years of touring, recording and living in the public eye, it's only fair that he gets to spend time with his family now. Brian and Roger may want to continue, but we've got to respect that John didn't.
Okay, that was obviously misunderstood. What I should have said is that he is portrayed as bitter....but I was just wondering if he kept in contact with Brian and Roger. Cos it seems like he doesn't.
Sorry, I misunderstood what you were trying to say. Anyway, I think think Brian, Roger and John are in touch, but they definitely don't have as much contact as Brian and Roger do. Then again, John doesn't really have a reason to be in constant contact, which Brian and Roger do. It's pretty easy to think that John's completely disappeared, because he never appears in the media like Brian and Roger, but he's just enjoying his retirement quietly.
And in my opinion, John deserves the greatest respect for his decision.
John was part of Queen, I don't think he would ever have joined another band or something...
So.. Queen's over and that was it for John.

Actually I read somewhere that John did not really comment on Robbie Williams singing Champions. It is said to be just a rumour.
Your right I don't think John is bitter, it was the usual tact of the British press (wankers as usual) he may not like what they have done with WWRY or WATC (not saying he doesn't like it) but that isn't being bitter - if he hadn't have been asked to do it then he could be bitter, but he was asked to be involved
John has retired - Brian has said many times on his web site that he and Roger are still intouch with John (mainly from a business point of view) and is fully supportive of the musical
With regards tothe Robbie williams (and any other) collaberation - Brian & Roger - pack it in they are shocking (Robbie, Britney, 5ive etc,et)

It would be nice to belong to John's inner circle.. and sit down to go all the way on the memory lane talking about his career, queen times and feelings now..
Anyone know's anyone who might know John in person? :)

I think he's the most happy man on earth. He's got the money, he's got a nice family, he stopped working at a very young age so he's got all the time in the world to enjoy those fine things in life, so yeah: I guess he's happy.

...he goes to strip bars....
;-)
just kidding..
I agree, I think he is happy. Otherwise he'd step back into the business. I suppose he could anytime if he wanted to...
I was in touch with somebody from John's family for a while... it was obvious that they want to lead a quiet family life without any attention. No wonder, after 20 years in the spotlight.
He was involving in some Queen projects after Freddie's death: Tribute, Made In Heaven, some appearances on The Cross shows, Bejart's ballet premiere, No-One But You... So it depends if he's interesting or not.

Because Robbie Williams is no Freddie Mercury.

The comment he allegedly made about Robbie was supposed to have appeared on this site www.popbitch.com/
He's not bitter, he has a life.
