the works production really sucks
I just don't understand what's sobad about it .. it has so many hits (Radio, hard life, Hammer to fall, ITTWWC? etc.) the only song I don't like that much is machines .. but it's an album with a real queen-feeling so to speak, which wasn't on the Hot Space album ..
so, what do you think what's so bad about it? :S
I'd say "A Day At The Races". I think it was even more underrated in 1976 than now. But it is still in the shadow of "Opera".
"The Works" is a really good album also.
"Innuendo" was excellent, many critics know it, but still too many don't.
And finally, "Made In Heaven" - I think it sounds really good, you don't hear such albums every day. It contains also one of the most underrated Queen songs ever - "You Don't Fool Me". I can't believe it was only no. 17 in the UK charts! Fortunately it was a big hit in other European territories.

I agree. "The Works" is always ignored by "hardcore fans" - but it was their most successful album in the UK charts. It is actually a quintessential Queen album with lots of harmonies and catchy tunes - just classic Queen sound. - it certainly is one of the top five Queen albums. Their best "pop"-album
and to my friend Jimi....
I also think that my favourite 70s Queen album "A Day At The Races" is wayyy underrated - and I don`t understand why: "Somebody To Love", "The Millionair Waltz" and "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" are masterpieces, and "Teo Torriate" ist the best Queen ballad - I think the album is even better than "A Night At The Opera"

The Works, Flash Gordon and Hot Space.
The Works - Great rock feel. Hammer To Fall and Tear It Up hold the album's rock attitude, while Radio Ga Ga, It's A Hard Life, and I Want To Break Free mix pop with rock to make a grand combination, and the synths of Machines, though frowned upon, offer an electronic alternative to the rest of the album. A fine album!
Flash Gordon - Though many of the songs are either instrumental or feature snippets of dialogue from the movie, this album is one to be enjoyed by all Queen fans. The passion and foundation built by Flash's Theme and The Hero are definitely underestimated. Football Fight, Flash To The Rescue, and In The Space Capsule are instrumental tracks that hold the album and the movie together. A great soundtrack and Queen album!
Hot Space - For my money, the MOST underrated Queen album in history! Good opening with Staying Power, good mix of rock and dance with Back Chat, Action This Day (my fave Hot Space song), and Calling All Girls, with the general rock/pop feel of Put Out The Fire, Las Palabras de Amor and Under Pressure. Great experimentation with dance and synths, and a worthy outcome in my humble opinion. Cherish this album; there is NOTHING like it!

It is so hard to pick an underated album for me because I don't think that any of their albums are bad. I simply love everyone! So I am going to say that EVERYONE of their albums are under-rated. So that would be my answer. EVERYONE of their albums are under-rated. QUEEN should have been HUGE like the BEATLES, or THE STONES or something, but then if they were I probley would not have liked them. So that's that. xoxoFromQueenette
I gotta say that the fact that "the Works" is so underrated is because it has no albumfeeling. It is not like ANATO, not like many other. It is like a collection of singles. Thats the fact.
QUEEN should have been HUGE like the BEATLES, or THE STONES or something[.]
NEWSFLASH: They were.
Maybe I'm not old enough to know but when I was growing up QUEEN here in the United States was NOT popular like THE BEATLES or THE STONES, okay!?
Let's not get cocky! Again I am just stating from my own prospective and point of view and when I grew up. Do you understand?
Hot Space, definitely. Maybe not the best album they did, but certainly not the trash so many make it out to be. I don't think Queen gets the recognition it deserves either. Brilliant first album!!
What about The Game? no one has mentioned it here, not even as a highly rated album.
the works has good songs but they're much better live.all of them.compare hammer to fall studio with htf live(and the same with iwtbf, radio ga ga).open windows is a wonderful song but tear it up and man on the prowl are not so special.good songs, yeah, but not so special.machines is one of the worst queen songs.
I think if i had to choose a underated album or albums , i have to say Both The Works and Hot Space , Flash beings that was a soundtrack album too would also fit in the underated catagory. But then again Flash wasnt the typical Queen work either.
Im an American , and I dont know if this will come out wrong or not but in America I feel that once the 1980's hit America mistreated Queen in a sense that homophobia took over that part of the country and with the aids scare spreading people tend to sway away from such bands or actors or even actress's just for that simple notion. I feel that it was wrong and I think Queen needs more credit that what they have gotten in America , I mean they didnt even win a Grammy award really , they could have won severle grammys just for their work with the highlander alone , not to mention Bohemian Rhapsody. Heck ill even add Another One Bites the dust since that song seemed to have hit more than just a rock audience , but the black r&b and funk audience as well. What do you people think?

I think a very underated Queen album is hot space, but i must admit that i didn`t like it very much before, but the more i listened to it the better i liked it.Las palabras the amour is one of my favorite tracks on that album and also one of their best songs i think although Queen has so many greate songs it is still one of my favorites, another greate album is the game.
does someone agree with the game?
Just go on with it or else i forget my name - Freddie Mercury.

I agree that all their albums are underated, hey how about the game, great album has a good fun feel to it. actually i'm a bit surprised how many people here agree with me about hot space and the works both solid efforts, it's a sin how bad hot space got bashed, back chat is a good tune. yea both very underated.
