Only one person mentions Page & Plant??
They are the Lennon and McCartney's of heavy rock.
Freddie is awesome as well.
I mentioned Page and Plant and let's not forget Gilmour/Waters. Without Gilmour, Waters' music vision would not have been realized. If you listen to The Wall demos then the studio album, David Gilmour plus Bob Ezrin turned The Wall into a classic.
Yes, you were the one I mentioned :)
Yes, let's not forget Gilmour/Waters. I've never heard the Wall demos (I'd love to though), but I've never been one to underestimate Gilmours position within Pink Floyd. I saw Floyd on the first post waters tour and let me tell you, from the front row, they were freakin' awesome, Waters or no Waters...
How about Strummer & Jones? Anyone mentioned them?
Djaef, David Gilmour helped The Wall turn the album into what it was. Some of Roger's early demos were unlistenable. Then, the 1978/79 Britannia Row demos of The Wall with help from Gilmour and Ezrin were templates of what the album became. Waters was the lyrical guts of PF but Gilmour was the musical soul. The best songs on WYWH and Animals and The Wall had music penned by Gilmour. Also, David's voice and guitar work was component to the PF sound as was Rick Wright's keyboards. Strummer and Jones were the Lennon/McCartney of punk. Funny that The Clash opened for The Who on The Who's first of zillion Farewell tours in 1982. In areas like LA and NY, The Clash got a good response but in the South, the rednecks booed The Clash and wanted The Who and The Who only!
