I'm a fan from Japan. Anybody please tell me if those names Scaramouch, Gallileo Figaro and Beelzebub have any historical meanings or any literature background. And what is Fandango? How about Magnifico?
Scaramouch-A stock character in commedia dell'arte and pantomime, depicted as a boastful coward or buffoon.

Beelzebub- The Lord of The Flies. The Devil. Satan. Evil Incarnate.

Galileo-Genius Italian dude, dropped 2 cannonballs from the Pisa tower

Figaro-An adroit and unscrupulous intriguer.

Fandango-An animated Spanish or Spanish-American dance in triple time

Magnifico- Magnificent, splendid in appearance; grand
Magnifico - Magnificant in spanish

As an italian I always felt proud that my all time favourite song,Bohemian Rhapsody, has italian names in it!Freddie's Masterpiece!
Freddie Mercury. A wonderful human being and simply the greatest singer, performer and composer of our times.
Gabriel,

It fits like a cock in Germaine Greer!
'Puritanism - the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, maybe happy.'
Thank you Gabliel. I was just talking to my friend who is another fan of Queen. He said this song might be something to do with homosexuality. I said no way then, because as long as I know he was straight till he broke up with Mary Austin in 80. But your translation is very interesting and perhaps right. I read somewhere that Bri commented this song is Freddie himself to an interview. So???

I think it's actually "jizz people" the church condemns (aka "omosexuals".)
