NO - DON'T SHOOT! I KNOW we've had this topic before, but this is something a little different. I have to do this project on effective music for one of my classes, and since they have a wide variety, I've decided to use Queen as my subject. Opportunity, opportunity...

Anyway - the title should explain itself. Either give me songs or individual lyrics that are either very good or very bad. Spare me the torments and don't name Body Language, okay? I know that has bad lyrics.
God wants you to send me some money. "Seven spades doubled, vulnerable, making seven? You BITCH."
The show must go on i think are some of Queen's best lyrics , also killer queen, play the game, bohemian rhapsody, prophets song, good old fashi.............................................................. the list goes on
We love you Freddie, R.I.P
o_O

I had GOFLB down as one of my bad songs. Just a tad too lipsticky for me.

I agree on all the others, though.

I personally think 39's got their best lyrics. Worst, excluding Body Language, has to be Don't Try Suicide. I would quote the lyrics, but I'd never stop laughing again.

father to son lyrics....need i say more??
The Prophet's Song, Innuendo, Life is Real, and The Night Comes Down, and of Course Bo-Rhap are the best IMO

The worst are Sweet Lady, I can't live with you
The Worsts gotta be Rock It and Machines.

The first one is full of nonsense verses, the second is just crappy cyber-language.
I don't know about their best, but I find the lyrics to 'White Queen' to be very striking. I also agree with many of the other songs listed here...so, I probably wasn't much of a help at all, sorry!

Ja ne!
Something like 'Coming Soon' and 'Party' are not very good, IMHO.
Innuendo, Under Pressure, The Prophet's Song and White Queen are a few that have great lyrics. The not so good? Dancer, Fun It and Party.
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.
Maybe this is obvious, but I always thought We Are The Champions had great lyrics. Simple, direct, everyone gets 'em. And the result is a timeless anthem (proof that they speak to more than one generation). Bring Back That Leroy Brown & Seaside Rendezvous always tickled me. Jealousy is a more serious example of good stuff, too, I think.

As for bad... the bewildering Delilah? the numbingly daft Calling All Girls? the overly smarmy The Miracle or Friends Will Be Friends?

Have fun! Get a good grade, ms. empress!
...gonna use my prisoners, gonna give 'em the business...
The best lyrics,

Oh rock of ages do not crumble
Love is breathing still
Oh lady moon shine down
A little people magic if you will.

And the worst has to be Delilah.

And then you make me slightly mad
When you pee all over my Chippendale suite.

I know it's Freddie indulging himself but they're chronic.

An AWESOME example of good (more like perfect) lyrics is "The Show Must Go On". As for bad lyrics... I'm not too sure. :P
"Elton John and I became really good friends. I don't mean 'good friends' in that sense. I just mean we slept together." -Billy Joel

The weakest lyrical extract would be this part of I'm In Love With My Car:

"So she made tracks saying this is the end now
Cars don't talk back they're just four wheeled friends now"

Rhyming 'now' with 'now' is just pathetic (sorry Rog, I really like your songs, but this bugs me).

Roger tries to be car-savvy sounding and it pisses me off...
THE ABSOLUTELY BEST LYRIC HAS TO BE "IT'S A HARD LIFE"!!! more touching lyric and melody you never find I think...Also the Songs "Take My Breath Away", "Jealousy", "Love Of My Life", "Life Is Real", "Lily Of The Valley", "Keep Passing The Open Window", "Liar" and "Nevermore" has a VERY GOOD lyric in it!

I dont like the lyric in "Don't Lose Your Head" and "Calling All Girls"..and they're not good songs in other ways either:S just the voice of Mercury makes them well-listening!
Freddie Mercury; "Reach for the Top, and hope for the Best" "Find them, Fuck them, Forget them!"
Alot of Brian songs are excellent lyricly. Save Me, All Dead All Dead, It's Late, WWTLF and Sail Away Sweet Sister for ballads. But he could also write great lyrics for hard songs like Hammer To Fall and The Show Must Go On.
"I bet you lost your virginity to a mechanical bull"
