23 years after dismissing it after one listen, I picked up Fun In space in a bargain bin a couple of months ago. I LOVE IT ! Favourite tracks are My Country, Lets Get Crazy, and the brilliant Magic Is Loose. Question is, which one of Roger Taylors' shamefully neglected solo albums should I get next. I'll go with the consensus.
To cast aside the fury of the battle. To turn my weary eyes for home.
It is indeed a brilliant album ! Strange frontier comes close, but Fun In Space really has a concept feel about it. You can get lost in that record, it's really a journey.
I like Happiness and Electric Fire, but both are not as weird and wonderful as the two 80s offerings. So I recommend Strange Frontier as the next one !
Guten Tag und Guten Abend !!! We had a great time in Cologne. Drinking beer in the sunshine beside the Mighty Rhein brought back many memories for me..... (Brian May, 2004)
I loved Fun In Space on first listen and I've been enjoying it now for 23 years (is it really that long?) :)

I haven't had the later 2 Roger solo records for very long (actually about 2 weeks :)) so I don't really know them very well yet, but I have to concur with Regor anyway.

There is an atmosphere on the first two albums not present on the others. There are some really good songs on both Electric Fire and Happiness, but I would recommend listening to them in the order of their creation. Listen to the development so to speak.

I am not a big fan of the Cross material, so I think definately start with his early solo stuff. Strange Frontier it is.
djaef - Queen fan since 1678, after the Dorog concert!
I'd say try Happiness.
Yes, it's me. I'm back. I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on a disk somewhere
Happiness far better... Electric Fire- ca't figure out that one- some tracks are brilliant, some anive and banal... Strange Frontier is the worst of them all... No, really- try Happiness- YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Happiness is winning at the moment. Whichever one is winning this time tomorrow I will buy and listen to over the weekend. The more opinions the better.

I prefer happiness...great atmosphere!
King Freddie still rules
Here is my personal favourite Roger solo albums list:
1.Happiness?
2.Electric Fire
3.Fun In Space
4.Strange Frontier
Freddie Mercury. A wonderful human being and simply the greatest singer, performer and composer of our times.
I love Fun In Space. I think it's actually my favorite solo album from Roger. Happiness? is good, but it's lacking something. I've only listened to Strange Frontier a few times; something about it just doesn't interest me. And Electric Fire is great. It's more mature than the previous albums, and the lyrics show that.
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.
