Just before the BBC documentary "The Making Of...", I wonder if Bohemian Rhapsody holds the record for the musical track released on the largest number of officially available formats?

12" LP Album
12" single (Colours/pictures are NOT a formats!)
7" single

CD Album
CD 5" single
CD 3" single

Cassette Album
8-Track Cassette Album
Reel-to-Reel Album
DCC Album
Mini-Disc Album
Cassette single

12" Laser Disc Album
DVDA Audio Album
DVD Video Album
5" Phillips disc PCM?

Betamax Video Album
VHS Video Album
VHS Video Single

MP3 Official Album download
MP3 Official single download

I make that 21 different formats. Are there any more?

(No - DVD-R or CDRW do not count - as they must be formats that could be bought over the counter).

No sheet music either!

That sure is a lot of formats!

I guess really holds that record. I think I even read about it in a FC-mag.

Here are some more:
'78rpm-single. (South Africa)
Video CD
10"-acetate

There also seems to be a "CED" (no idea what that is supposed to be) of Greatest Flix.

I forgot - Windows 98 Queen interactive greatest hits song book on 5" CD-Rom: "Queen - Greatest Hits 1"
Two CD Rom Interactive Song Book for Guitar or Piano/Keyboard.
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."

What 12" single?

PG: The 1992 re-release b/w Days Of Our Lives...

Philipp: Are these the same?
5" Phillips disc (PCM?) & Video CD

I have one - it looks exactly the same as a DVD - but pre-dates it by a few years.

That makes 25 different formats?

What about other types of digital formats, other than mp3? I'm thinking before mp3.

If the Phillip's Disc refers to the VCD-issue of around 1994 then they're the same indeed. Sorry for causing confusion.

I don't remember ever seeing a 12" in 1991.

Ron's site doesn't list it either.

It was definitely released on CD and 7" vinyl in 1991, but almost certainly not 12" format.

Would a promo release count in this instance?

OK - I need to look out my one.

Perhaps I am thinking of the wrong disc, but I am positive I have a "BO Rhap" as 12" track (not the main track - but on 12" nevertheless) so I will need to look it out.

But that's what happens when you get old!

I'm not sure what it would solve, but it would remove a fair chunk of John's credibility if it turned out that's the 12" he was thinking of!

It's not that bad. This is a list of various different releases (albums, video compilations, singles) and they weren't all released at the same time, but within some 30 years.
