John is a man in his fifties, have you ever though about that?
He's no teenager anymore and maybe he doesn't want to go on bouncing around on stage. Simply as that.

I read an interview in which John said he 'went spare' during the recording of Innuendo because it was taking so long. Anyway, he nailed some great bass lines on that album and that's all that matters.
