i think its "tie your mother down"
The it wouldn't be a Greatest Hits compilation but a Singles compilation :P

speaking from uk in respect to gh1 the reason "tie your mother down" was left off was probably due to its positioning number 31 & likewise for "spread your wings" number 34 so technically chart wise they werent greatest hits ..as for songs they are
"las palabras de amor" should have been included as it reached number 17 & it charted higher than "who wants to live forever" number 24 "the miracle" number 21 "im going slightly mad" number 22
I guess the reason "scandal" was left off was the fact "the miracle" was already heavily represented with the other 4 singles & its chart position number 25
as ghv3 i've never bought it how you can incorporate solo material into a queen album is a complete rip off

ALL the ones that aren't on greatest hits albums. But especially spread your wings. And bijou. And Tie your mother down. And.....
Songs can be hits even if they weren't single IMHO. Queen had lots of FM radio hits in the '70s that weren't singles. TYMD, Keep Yourself Alive, Get Down Make Love, Death On Two Legs and even '39 got lots of airplay here. (My non-Queen fan friend still remembers '39...and we're in the US!).
Love Of My Life should be on any compilation too I think, judging by how many audiences obviously loved it by singing along to it live.
There was one radio hit though that I'm glad isn't on the compilations: Don't Try Suicide :) This even got regular airplay on the Top 40 pop stations here in Iowa/Nebraska, got played all the time at our skating rink, and all the kids at school knew it when I was growing up. I think people were looking for a new WWRY, and this song was somewhat similar. Of course the main reason for the popularity was it being the B-side of AOBTD....

Well there are Top 40 hits, and there are FM radio hits. There are also video hits, etc....
Personally I don't think it's the right thing to do to look at the Top 40 singles chart for a ROCK band's hits...that's where you look for pop bands.
Otherwise it would mean that "Stairway To Heaven" wasn't a hit, either, since it wasn't a Top 40 single (or even a single for that matter)...but it's a radio hit. So I guess it's all how it's defined. They shouldn't have called any of the discs "Greatest Hits" anyway IMHO....

I like almost all the ones on the original three discs a great deal. From disc one, I don't really like "You're My Best Friend" for some reason, but it was a hit so it shouldn't be left out. I don't know why "Stone Cold Crazy", "Keep Yourself Alive", "Tie Your Mother Down", and "Spread Your Wings" weren't included. It just seems wrong to me.
Disc two...I could live without Headlong...I mean, it's good but not one of their best. Too mainstream; not enough Queen in that one. Where were "Body Language", "Calling All Girls", and "Back Chat" on that one? Were they shunning Queen's Hot Space album's dance feel?

The third disc should have omitted such songs as Elton John's and George Michael's along with the solo cuts, leaving room for those omitted on the first two greatest hits albums. When you release commercial records like GH, you can't say we're not gonna look at the charts, let's look at radio airplay. How stupid is that?

I said i agreed with that and it woz stupid A Winter's Tale wozn't included, it was a top 10 hit! And the solo songs and remixes yeh..i know but i gave u all the info on the GH there is. These are the facts wotz the use for such threads??
