People shouldn't look at Freddie because he is gay. We like him for other reasons.

no, there was MUCH more to him than his sexuality.

If someone wants to see Freddie as a gay idol, then why not? Gay people need someone to look up to just as much as Zoroastian people, Parsi people, people with noticable overbites, smokers, people who like to wear PVC pants ... the list goes on and on.

I loved Freddie for his musical talent, voice, and sexy stage appeal.

Being gay doesn't make me think any less or more of him. It was just how he was, and I don't think it was something he deliberately chose either.

yes, He can be seen as a gay idol! Because I was so famous and a strong person, he is a good man to look up to by young and confussed gay peoples!

Some gays hear from others that they are stupid, sick and lower-range persons, but when they see a gay-bi artist like Mercury, who has make a lot of stardom, they begin to look at they self from another view I think!

No. I don't think "gay idol" is the correct term. I have to admit that my own issues with sexuality initially led me to Queen, but as with most issues, it's more complex than that. What I most admired about Mercury was the incredible ability he had to express the many facets of himself in his music. I love the way he freely and shamelessly expressed himself. I mean, whether he felt like singing high and vulnerable like a girl, or venemous and loud like a hard core rocker, he didn't care what people thought. He just did it. I think if anything, Mercury should be seen as an Idol of "Free Expression". Yeah, I think I like that better.

Freddie is a gay idol in the gay community. Outside of that he should be known as a musical legend.
