how did you get into queen?

It is really hard to say how... When I was 6 years old my brother gave me casette on wich was the song "One year of love".... I heard Freddie's impresious voice, Brian's fantastic solo guitar, Roger's excelent drums and John's interesting bas and I said "This is good"... From then I heard a lot of groups but they are the legends... One and only... This is how I started.... Now im 15 and I'm still crazy about them.... It's not a stupid question... I like it... Cheers!

My friend discovered them. Then while round her house last summer, she showed me all the videos she had. Before that I didn't even know who they were, and at first I thought Freddie was scary. It took me a while to get into them, but since then I have bought A Night At The Opera, Live At Wembley, The Platinum Collection, The Game, Innuendo and The Works. I am likely to have all of their albums and more by next summer. It's true - with Queen you certainly do get it all!

I found the ANATO CD while browsing trough my dad's CD's and started listen to it. And my friend got the GH1 and we just fell in love with those CD's.
There was a strike in my school and I didn't go to school for 6 weeks and I had to find something to do!! So I just started to read some texts, news, webside etc. about Queen and then I became A FAN!! And I will always be a Queenfan, not like the other times I fancied a band..

I had been listening to mostly just popular music before I discovered Queen and got so bored with it. So I asked my mom for some suggestions of what to download and listen to, and she told me Don't Try Suicide, since that had been her favorite song off The Game when it had been released. I downloaded that, Killer Queen and It's A Beautiful Day and loved them, so then I got the Platinum Collection for the holidays. I actually didn't hear Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time until I got those CDs! And my uncle works at Disney, so he had gotten the Crown Jewels and gave it to me. My favorite at the time was The Game and it actually did take a little while for me to warm up to the rest of the albums, but I did, and since then, I've been collecting everything I could get my hands on!

I saw the "I Want To Break Free" video when I was about 5 on tv and loved it:)) It was hilarious, I remember asking my dad who are these ladies, and he told me they are men;) I totally fell in love with the video, and my folks got me some more videos. It was 15 years ago and I still adore them.. That's how it started for me.

I have only been a big Queen fan for a year and a half now. Last summer my dad gave my mom Queen's Greatest Hits, the Hollywood one. Then one day I went out on our boat to lay outside, and took it with me. I didn't know much about Queen then, but listened to the whole cd because I was too lazy to get my own from inside the house. It was then when I realized what I had been missing, and I have'nt looked back since.

Well, I've been a fan of oldies/past music (since Queen really isn't that old) all my life; my first love was the Beatles, starting back when I was 5...but then I succumbed to peer pressure and got into pop, yadda yadda yadda. But then I was in a music store just browsing around one day, and saw the only Queen CD they had...the purple greatest hits. I had only known them for BoRhap, WWRY and We Are The Champions, but I decided to give it a try since I loved all those songs. I only had that CD until 2 months ago when I saw the play WWRY in Las Vegas. I fell in love with the emotion and beauty of the songs, even though it wasn't even Fred singing them! I proceeded to get ANATO as soon as I got back from LV, and now I have the Live At Wembley CDs and DVDs, Sheer Heart Attack, and A Day at The Races. Now...I don't listen to anything else. Granted, all my other CDs were stolen recently, but I wouldn't want to listen to them because it's just...not as good. And that's my rather uninteresting story. :)

First time I can remember hearing them and liking a song was when Flash was in the charts. I was 6.
Then when I was 10 I heard Hammer to Fall and thought these kick ass.
Heard A kind of Magic when I was 12 and thought it was the best song I'd ever heard. I still wasn't really into music at that stage.
I woke up to music when I heard One Vision on a compilation my uncle had shorlty after.
Then, in 87, after hearing Dont Stop me Now on a TV ad for Club Orange, I couldn't resist any more and bought The greatest hits.

I first heard Queen singing Killer Queen on the radio when I was about 10 years old - that being quite a few years ago now!! I thought that they were totally different to what we were used to hearing on our local station.

Back in about 1999.I was six that time.I listened to Bo Rhap.My dad said I liked it at once.And then in about late 2002 or early 2003,my dad bought Greatest Hits I DVD.I watched it and I got hooked!.And then I saw Roger.I was thinking,"hmmm he's so handsome".I've been a Queen fan for 2 years now.

My teacher in the gymnasium had on the musiclessons a list of great albums for a lot of groups. So one day when I was out for buying a beatles album, they didn't have that record in the locak store that day. So I bought Innuendo instead. And then I was stuck.

By my father..or yeah little bit from my father. He had a Queen cd ..and when i was sick and bored,i started to listen to it..and i loved all the songs(most of all bohemian rhapsody) then i was 10 years old,erm i'm now btw 11..but i did not love them like i love them now! And when i moved to Denmark in this summer,then i was sometimes again bored..then i downloaded some songs with Queen and then i became a huge fan! oh i love them:*

A lot of youngsters in this forum.

Personally I was brought up listening to groups like Deep Purple and Queen and so I kind of became hooked over many years of listening to my parents choice of music.

Reading many of your posts, I find it interesting that the majority here seem to like the later albums and the Greatest hits disks.

These are all great, but for me, the following applies:

1. The Prophet Song was better than Bo Rhap (See Night at the Opera)
2. Queen II was their best album.
3. Fairy Fellers Master stroke is great to listen too whilst veiwing the picture that inspired it.
4. Queen was a band made up of 4 incredible musicians, not just Freddie Mercury. Take any one of them away and Queen would not have worked.
5. Dilyla (Spelling?) was nauseating.
6. Tenement Funster was just brilliant!
