It was, in my opnion, butchered in Moulin Rouge.
Yeah it was like the entire plot was fixated on that one song... bit of a letdown really.
but about your question I believe Brian said that Freddie helped him on it. Brian showed him the song when Freddie was bedridden and he said that they both knew it was about Freddie but neither of them said so (they never talked about the true meaning of their songs w/ each other). Brian said that it was kind of his way of letting Freddie know how he felt about him, w/ out ACTUALLY doing it.
That might be bull but if my memory serves me right that's how it went!

How could Freddie have been bedridden when he was able to go to the studio to do that song?

I mean he was in his bed, he was sick alot of the time you know.
Freddie only came out his bed a few hours a day, and these hours did he spend making music.
I think the song was about Bri and Rogers plans to coöperate with Paul Rogers after Freddie's death ;-)

once i`ve heard brian say that he wrote the song thinking as Freddie.
Then, he`d shown the song to Freddie, and Brian asked to him "will you sing it??" and Freddie said "i will sing whatever you want darling"
That was the story

hmmmmm yeah the topic title was a bit of a let down...
Maybe the topic title is an expression of Stelios's feelings about "Queen + Paul Rodgers"???
