Not quite right. It was actually about John's wish to break the group "Free" as he had a premonition that the lead singer would end up singing with Brian and Roger. But by the time he wrote the song Free had already "broke free".

Britney darrrrling, Keep yourself alive was written in the seventies. AIDS wasnt considered to be anything until 1981 ish. And Freddie was fine until 1986 ish. And he was living with Mary when KYA was written so although he felt he ws gay, he possibly wasnt acting on it at that point.

And God knows we dont have enough of those topics.... Hang on, thats not right.
Sometimes when we talk about freddie having AIDS it worries me how little people on this board know of the disease. Thus sometimes i go into 'hyposerious' melina talk. Forgive meeeee!
