Invented the fifties? I didn't realise he did that! Must have taken some doing. Did he take out a patent?
I like Elvis. I try to do his shuffle at parties, but I just end up getting attacked.

I wonder is this old or new version (remix)?
Next week is the 1000th number one ever (if it's a new entry), I'd rather it be Elvis than some shitty girl/boy band crap
Saying that the only single I shall be buying this week is Somebody Told Me by The Killers, and thats only for a b-side.

I remember when "A Little less conversation" was at the top it had to be taken off or something because it was number one for god knows how many weeks, if it remained on the chart noone else was going to get a look in!

So he didn't write his own songs BIG DEAL, wot about Elton?? Elvis was the first entertainer! Saw the movie "Elvis Lives" yesterday for the 3rd time. He was truly great. The amount of CRAP he got for moving his hips and racist fucks who said rock n roll was "nigger music" and he should be banned. Respect for the guy and i love his music.
At least Elton John writes the music on all his songs. He admits not being very good at writing lyrics, and that's why he'd rather have Bernie Taupin write them.
Still Elton John is still miles away more talented than Elvis.

Whatever...that's your opinion, doesn't mean you're right or anything :P

Until this evening, Queen's Bo Rhap was the only song to be released by the same artist to reach number one in the UK. Now that Elvis has reached number one with Jailhouse Rock, that is no longer so. Also, Elvis is now the only artist (I believe) to have the the same number one in two different centuries and millenia.
That's not true. George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" was also #1 twice. The second time was post-humously, as was/is JR and BohRap.
BohRap is still the song to be an Xmas #1 twice, and during 4 diff. years! (75-76, 91-92)
Fact Elvis didn't invent R'NR. He was the exploitative end of the music industry that invented it. Anyway Jerry Lee and Chuck Berry are still going-they were R'NR, but not inventors of it-it all came from southern states gospel, blues etc. Elvis and Co were the Stones of the 60s, New York Dolls/Sex Pistols of 70s and any other band that put a different edge on music as we hear it. Rebellion is what its about-Patti Smith 80s and yes Oasis-have a central theme be different make people listen. Simple really. Everyone has a different take on who their 'king' is in their generation.
Cheers and happy listening....

Saying that Elvis invented Rock N' Roll is like saying that Madonna invented pop.
I definitely stick by Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly because they did a lot more for Rock N' Roll than Elvis ever did. They're just too underated, while Elvis pretty much took the whole media attention.
