I've just gotten the worse flu that I've had in years.
I started getting sick around Christmas time when I got the symptoms, so I decided to not go out and make sure I always took medicine, and for a while I was doing fine. That until I decided to go out without wearing a scarf when I thought I was not going to get sick again, but that actually made me feel worse than ever before.
Seems like the whole thing is like an epidemy, because a lot of people at my job have called in sick in the past days.

I became ill on New Year's eve...and am still not 100%. Sore throat, achy, fever, chills and a horrendous cough. Hubby coming down with it now.
Hi Janet
Good thing that you're here so I can ask you for some pet advice....
Is it better for me to stay away from my Quaker Parrot since I got the flu?
I don't know for sure how susceptible are animals to receive diseases transmitted by humans, but also the fact that many animals have a tendency to shed fur (or in the case of birds to spread those flaky little thingies that look like dandruff everytime that they shiver) might make an ill person feel even worse than before.
I wonder how are you dealing with it since you have so many pets in the house.

Your Quaker won't catch your flu, you're safe! (or HE'S safe..lol) Yes, bird dander or pet hair can aggravate the lungs. We use an air cleaner in our home called Aprilaire. Regular baths for birds (I do mine with a spray bottle filled with warm water every other day) and regular cage cleaning and daily vacuuming can help cut down on the dander as well.
:-)
:-)
Thanks Janet
It must be hard for you to deal with being sick when you have to deal with cleaning up after your pets. I'm sure your husband tries to help you as much as he can.
Anyways, hope you feel better soon.

OMG! I've got the same thing! :D
Still coughing badly...weird if u think about it. It's not very cold for this time of year in Holland.
I got sick about a week before Christmas with a horrible 24 hr flu - I was sick like a dog...LOL And then on and off that week I was sick with a sore throat. After I got rid of everything, my brothe then caught, too. So I guess it's going around.
I came down with the flu shortly after New Years. My wife said it was just a cold and that I was a malingerer.
So I used her toothbrush to clean my teeth. And when she caught my cold, guess what, turns out it was the flu after all.

If my husband used my toothbrush, the flu would be the least of his problems ;-)
It's true - Janet uses her toothbrush to clean inbetween her toes and her toenails ;-)
And to scrub the toilet too.
