I cant believe if they came to Canada they would play The Guvernment. Its a 1600 capacity nightclub. Finding that news item hard to believe. They would easily fill much larger venues.
Queen cover bands play bigger venues!

I can believe it..Queen are not the supergroup they once were as far as selling out large arenas...exspecially over on this continent. They would never be able to feel a barn like they did in the old days...

I think it's good that they are choosing smaller venues. It will make for a better show for those attendng and it also shows that the Band are aware of their current selling power.

It's better to play it safe, then end up in a sorry mess.

Has anyone contacted the Canadian venues noted in the news article posted on here? Can this info indeed be confirmed?

Rock 101 in Vancouver has announced "Queen +" will play Vancouver and Toronto this coming September. This is not confirmed by them...but they said it is reliable. I contacted them by email and they wouldn't give me any further info as to who knew for sure. Fuck, I can't believe this!

If this rumour is really true than this is the most incredible news!!! Toronto in Semptember will be amazing, but I need official confirmation before I get too excited.

Toronto in September. That's F'N great!!!! The Guverment is a great location for them. A small club gig would be awsome. And just think, if they sell 1500 tickets to the show, the papers can say "....played a SOLD-OUT show". I say the biggest Party in this town is going to be Saturday Sept. 10!!!!

mike in toronto

P.s. - with WE WILL ROCK YOU NOT opening in Toronto this spring, I wonder if they would premier it in September????

It seems strange that Canadian dates would surface this far out, however we can only hope that the spring tour goes well and the boys decide to bring it to Canada. Massey Hall would be a much better choice of venue for Toronto IMO. I saw Brian in '93 in a smaller theatre (Danforth Music Hall) and it was incredible. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I was at that show at the Danforth as well. Incredible is an understatement. Definately an arguement in favour of smaller venues.
We can only cross our fingers for a Toronto show.
Love that handle Direwolf... Dead fan by any chance?

I've heard through the vine that we're looking at a possiblity of now Montreal(being the first city on a North American tour) on the 8th of September at a place called "Metropolis".

Another Toronto venue has also been contacted called "the Opera House" for the 10th of September 2005.

For Vancouver, we're looking at "Plaza of Nations" on the 14th and then probably (i've only heard from canadian promoters) south to LA and Vegas and hello...AMERICAN TOUR! Keep fingers crossed.

Another reason why it could be true... Paul Rodgers has a large Canadian fan base, infact his he has a home and his Fan Club is located about 10 minutes from my house.
He last played here in Vancouver at the end of November to a sold out show (a small show in comparison to Queen's stadium shows) and fans want him back....

Fingers crossed.

On Brian's Soap box a fan has asked Brian to play at a bigger venue in Toronto than Guvernment or Opera House. Just the Fact that Brian acknowledged this letter leeds me to believe that they might actually be looking at larger venues...probably arenas in some cities. What does everyone else think? Brian replied to a letter I sent him...I told him that "If you book them...they will come" which he seemed to agree with. I think there is soooo much demand for any Queen live product over here that the tour would be a definate success. There is also a definate buzz on radio and tv. Queen have been listed in the Top ten on many polls on Canada's Much More Music. I was just in HMV the other day and they had a big display of "On Fire At The Bowl" at the #2 position with "Live Aid" at number one.
