Here on Australian TV they are advertising an upcoming "Idol" type program called the X-Factor. One of the judges is a gentleman by the name of John Reed (or Reid?)who amongst his credits is supposed to have managed Queen. Now I may not be as educated as some in the history of Queen but I haven't heard him mentioned before in any of the biography DVDs or interviews with the guys.
Is he by chance the manager they fired and the one they penned the song "Death on Two Legs" for?

The reason why I ask is that in the advertisement they make this guy out to have "street cred" blah blah blah he's so wonderful and apparently he managed Elton John as well but in my estimation if he's the one Queen fired then aren't they in a lot of trouble making him out to be this all wise all knowing music guru???

John Reid was the guy that turned Freddie on to cocaine from what I've been told. He also wasn't too shy where matters of the same sex flirtations were concerned either. Hence the reason that they didn't persue having Peter Grant manage them.

i was going to audition for x-factor (as a joke, obviously) but couldnt be bothered to dress up for the event. But if i knew he was going to be there, i would of managed not only to get to the "next round" but fucking win, and tell Reid, he had to introduce me to Queen, or else I'll tell the world he raped me (which is something i would do). But, meh. im over it
